What about a gift "basket"/ collection that you make with candy, Blockbuster gift card (small amount), popcorn, soda pop (stuff you can get from the $Store), and maybe even a movie theatre gift card. ...or you could go with the same idea for a music style stash of stuff (downloadable song card etc...) OH! And don't forget to MAKE the card! Maybe make a collage of old pics of the two of you when you were little reminding him of how you guys were back when. I did this for my bro and he didn't throw it away like all of the other cards that he got.Good luck!
Without knowing what he's into it's hard to say
I have a lil' brother and I hate spending $ on him cuz it's too difficult trying to figure out what he likes. Boys don't talk much;)

get him something special.... something he can cherish. maybe a photograph of the two of you together, or a CD that would be Impossible to ever get tired of. I don't know him, therefore I can't choose what to get. Think hard about it...

oh and happy birthday Conan!

You have really gotten some rude answers.

From looking at the words you used, I can see why.

Something is wrong if you care about your brother and yet you say words as:

17 tomorrow - [ I think ] Don't you know his age ? or the day of his Birthday ?
GIRL ! OMG ! come on !!!!

"he is overweight" - - Who cares ? I know you would like him to be healthy. The question is - Do you love him?

"name is Conan" - - We don't need to know his name. I like it because it is unusual, though.

You said,
" Don't say get him an exercise thingy " -

- YOU are NOT supporting him in loosing weight ?

If he had weights or a fitness DVD he could work on 'muscle building' which quite a few guys are into. Diet, protein, weight building....... not necessarily focusing on loosing pounds.
This may be enough to be get a positive attitude from him to think about working out.

Out of the blue, smile and say "Conan, have you been exercising ? I think I see a little more muscle in your upper arms ? { EVEN if he is not working out. }{
Ask him what he's been doing, is it push-ups, weights ? Tell him you thought about buying a set of small weights for girls that are about 1 lb, 3 lbs, and 5 lbs Ask him if he knows what are good exercises to build strength.

Hey - exercise is good for you, me, and every one.

you said " I'll give him a present - next week " - -
can't you borrow from your parent or grandparents ?\
Make sure you DO get him one or that sucks.

"I have no money" - -

Why didn't you have your calendar marked and SAVE money over the past 3 months. His birthday does not change each year - - you knew it was coming up. Have the discipine to keep a box or envelope "tucked back from yourself" for special occasions. Or when you see a SALE item buy it and put it back in your closet or drawer.

Right now, I am buying Christmas presents at the July 4th and August sales. I put them in a large sack or box and marked it " Gifts " in the top of my closet.

Think about it. In the next upcoming months - Who has a birthday, anniversary, etc. you would like to remember ? Ask your parents and write the date down on a calendar in your room.
At the LEAST, you can buy a 99 cent card in Wal-Mart under the 99 cent section.

or Make the card yourself, write something down you mean, and tell them you love them. You do not have to apologize for not having a gift...... to do so puts them on the spot. THEY KNOW you don't have much money - - unless you are blowing it on YOU, you, you !

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

NOW finish those words..... No money and was too greedy - bought make-up for myself.

YOU are so pretty, that the only thing you should need is a wash for your complexion, mascara, blush, powder, and lip gloss. Make-up can get very expensive ! Use foundation for only certain days.
Can you get your Mom or parent to go with you and pick out items and get them to pay for them ?

If you are blowing money on yourself, develop some CHARACTER
and learn kindness, giving/sharing of what you do have, and applying yourself to studying, grades, hanging with good people, and taking time to learn about God.

Further, criticize NO ONE - like you do your brother on his weight.
When someone starts it - Do like I would do to you....
I'd say,

"We all have our faults whether we worry about our hair, a limp in our walk, a large nose, being overweight, getting a F or a D, breaking up with a friend, or not making a team.... right now I am worrried about...... you fill in the blank .... so I just want to try to enjoy part of the day."

or

"Why are you putting someone down ? How does it concern you ? Does it make you feel better ?"

or

" I don't have time to waste on being petty. I'd rather be nice."

Cd's, condoms, blow up dolls, porno (movies or mags, since he's fat he's prolly not getting any ***) Books, you listed no hobbies or interests so how anyone is supposed to give you good gift ideas is beyond me, But ive gotten my little bro sex related items since my dad and I caught him rubbing one out when he was 15. (it was as traumatizing as it sounds)
