The fact that you have not otld what you do is a major hinderance to answer this question. if you want nice people I think Indian villages are the place but then you would miss out on so much in life.
Professionally speaking the metros are the hit scenes.
Standard of living I would recommend Punjab or Himachal Pradesh.
Though I have travelled a lot there is a town called Dalhousie in Himachal Pradesh which I think is absolute heaven.

Considering your requirements, Hyderabad is a great city to be relocating to. Visit it once to get a fell of the city yourself. You will not regret it. I am from Delhi and have been in this city for almost 2+ years and love being here so much that I would not want to trade it with any other city (if I can help it).

The best place is Manali.. u can catch a train (and train Sleeper Class and To and Fro Charge for u & ur wife is 2,000/-) from calcutta to new delhi, then a bus (it will be an AC Bus and To and Fro Charge for u & ur wife is 3,800/-) from delhi (chandralok building - HPSRTC) to manali, then u can stay in Snow valley resort (Nearly 11,000/- for 3nights and 4 days). As it is a very beautiful place to be for Honeymoon. Kerala is very far for you and its costly also.

I would suggest Port Blair in Andaman Islands where you can re-locate with your family.
The place is good. Education for children is not costly. The people are warm. You can speak in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam.
