I dont mean fly in a plane but actually pilot a plane? And not just a private jet or something but pilot a normal commercial plane? If we can drive a truck, a 4X4, a motorbike, then why the hell not a plane???

Women pilots are very common... perhaps it's the uniforms... You often can't tell!

To be fair, there are more male pilots than female, but I think this is mostly down to the fact that there are still a lot of ladies out there that are put off the job because they percieve it as a male dominated world.

(And perhaps, JUST perhaps they are a litle more grown up than most chaps and don't feel the need to chase down the street with thier arms stretched out and screaming an engine noise! - And yes... I still do that!)

Oddly enough, women are in many ways better suited to be pilots! While guys are often physically stronger and able to cope with the controls better (though modern aircraft have electronic controls that require very little effort), women can withstand more G-Force (the force that pushes you into your seat... an essential part of flying). Women are also (not always, but mostly!) better at multi-tasking and that's a skill ALL pilots need.

Let's not forget the lady pilots through history too... Amy Johnson (From my home town by the way!), Amelia Aerheart, Helen Sharma (OK, she was an astronaught, but it's in the same field)... There are plenty of good examples out there!

I for one welcome the idea of flying with a lady pilot... As a pilot in training myself, it just makes sense!

I'm a private pilot and am in the process of acquiring my CFI (certified flight instructor) license so that I can get paid by people who want to learn to fly. After about a couple of years I'll be hired by a company because I will have acquired enough flight time to work for them because you do need a certain amount of flight time so that they may hire you. I already have my commercial and instrument endorsement but like I said, to be hired by a big time company you need to have a lot of hours and stand out of the pack. You just don't see women doing this kind of stuff much but yes we fly!

What are you talking about, I work for UPS and I load there planes.....I have seen many women pilots and these are commercial jetliners (B727s, B747s, B757s, B767s, DC-8s, MD-11s, & A300s).

I must say that the vast majority of the pilots are Males, Caucasian for that matter but I have met some Black and Female pilots; they are just under-represented in the field.

So the moral of the story is......dont say it can't be done, especially if it has been done.

Women can pilot commercial planes. I was recently on a flight with a female pilot.

It would be illegal to not allow women to be pilots.

I'm pretty sure you can? Most commercial pilots are male because most commercial pilots come from the military which is mostly male. I know for a fact a women was a certified stealth bomber pilot.
do you have a source for this?

Just a tad of research you will be astounded of the number of women pilots. By the way, a lady is circling the earth in a space shuttle as we sit here.

As far as I know, there is no law against women being pilots..

Men are sterotypically pilots, but I'm sure there are women pilots out there.
