You can always request a lower bail amount. It is up to the Court whether or not to grant it.

I am surprised that there would be a bail amount for a traffic citation. Most traffic citations are handled by a summons with a warrant being issued only if you fail to appear on the date noted on the summons. If that is the case, it is going to be difficult to get a lower bail as you have already given the court reason to doubt your willingness to voluntarily appear in court.

Yes you can!
It's a simple procedure where you have to address the court through a judge and you ask for a lower bail amount for a traffic citation?
The judge will either say yes or he will say no!
It's pretty simple really.
If the judge says yes the amount will be lowered.
If he says no then it won't.

You can always request it - but the judge generally uses a standard schedule for bail as it relates to a particular offense. In requesting a lower bail, you have a better chance of getting it if you have extenuating circumstances (like you just lost your job) to support your request. You will get your bail back or have it applied to your fine if you are found guilty.

not that I know of. Seems there is either a set bail or the judge suggests one. I don't think you have any choice in the matter. Eithr you get a bail bondsman or have someone (like a family member post bail) or you sit in the jail cell and wait out the time.
