unfortunatly my son is a manifestation of one of my bad qualities. I would change if i knew he would benefit from it. I would like him to enjoy his life more. He just seems so miserable. He has 2 younger brothers. We are all in a good mood and then he comes in and everything go sour. Anybody with some experience with this?

Thirteen yes I don't miss those days at all. My boy was the absolute king of miserable. Every one hated him no one cared he hated every one and every thing except for his so called girl friend. lol.

Good luck. it's a long hard ride. But you will be happy to know it does end. Jere is going to be 21 in October and his ended his Junior year. I would say. Thirteen through 15 were the peek years though. I can remember sitting in my room at night and just crying my eyes out. I swore up and down he needed help.

He will grow out of it but unfortunately, your other two will not be far behind.

My daughter is 11 and she is already starting. You just kind of have to get through it the best you can and try not to allow him to get to ya.

"I would change if i knew he would benefit from it."

Then change. 'Nuf said.

If not for your oldest, then for your other two sons. Learn from your mistakes.

True, he's a teenager, but you've admitted that he gets this from you. Let him know that you've made a mistake in the way you've acted, and that you are going to change, and that he needs to make an effort to change, too. Good luck~

it might be that he's just growing up.
when I was 13 I went through this whole "i hate my family" rebellion stage. I didn't really hate my family, but you know, I treated them all like crap cause I thought they were all annoying and didn't "understand" me.
i get along with my parents and my bro perfectly fine now though (i'ma be 17 in 13 days yeahhh)

Yeah, HE's 13!!!!!!!! Your question is in Adolescent. Ring a bell? Kids go through changes. He hasn't matured yet. He might be in a rebel stage, he might be trying to impress his friends. Deal with it. You did it as a kid, you're other 2 kids will do it too. It's called life, let him grow out of it on his own.

He can change, but remember at his age is could be his hormones making his decisions, and it may improve on his own.

My step-son is like that. You need to have consistant discipline when he has this behavior. When he is snarky, and just being rude take away his DVD player, TV, computer, phone, etc. When he learns that his behavior has consequences he will think twice about mouthing off.

teens go through that...don't push and don't let him disrespect you...just let him know he is loved and don't make him feel like something is wrong with him....puberty has that infect on boys sometimes....don't worry about it....
