My friend is black and white(dad-white,mom-black). Her dad and mom had a fling which resulted in her and her dad ran away. She wants nothing to do with her white ancestry even though her mom wants her to be more accepting of it because she's mixed race. Well her legal papers say biracial and she wants to change it to African American. The Government won't let her because her skin is too light and she has too many caucasian features so they want to leave it biracial. She is really mad about this. What could she do about this, and why would the government deny her to change her ethnicity to African American?

Because she is biracial. Although it would be nice if we could do away with counting race.

But the bottom line is she IS biracial. She can be mad all she wants but she well you cant change who your parents were.

Because she isn't African American. She's biracial. There's nothing wrong with that. She needs to accept who she is.

Beats me. You'd be hard pressed to find an African American who isn't bi-racial, except maybe for one that just moved here from Africa. Maybe if she did like Halle Berry and got a nice sun tan, she could qualify as Black enough for the bureaucrats.

Exactly what government agency would dare to question her race?

They cant do that... it's illegal.

If she wants to put African American on there, it is her right, and they cant question it.

Personally, we should all be American's, and people should not get special benefits for being non-white.

Suck it up and quit being such a little turkey to her mother. Does she not realize that she is slapping her mother in the face? She IS bi racial, she needs to grow up and stop being such a baby.

Sounds a little spoilt to me... what is wrong with being American.

Does she think she is going to get something better being black... just be bi racial and be proud of it... and don't hurt your mother..
