I know. I feel the same living in Massachusetts. I continue to vote because I feel it is my duty to my country to contribute my view of who I think should be running this country, even if most of the other people in my state, for God only knows what reason, vote Democrat. I try to think of it as my vote canceling out Ted Kennedy's.

You needn't bother voting for president, but you should vote for everything else.
A few years ago there was a ballot measure that would have set up a proportional system of dividing electoral votes so that the state would be competitive and each vote would matter. Of course, ignorant Californians chose not to accept their voice in presidential elections and voted no.

if you really care about what you think and the republican party you have to vote if you think that you aren't doing anything go out and help out any local republican elect or fundraisers groups there are many things you can do to make your voice be heard or you can challenge the democratic party member with issuses that mean a lot to you and the republican party. where ever you are your vote matters and you have a voice and can make a difference

Well if you cannot think of a better reason then how about.. its your civic duty.
But honestly it matters. Most ballots have initiatives that are state issues. You have reps and many things to vote on. Do your part.
For a long time Apathy was the biggest downfall in regard to citizens in the USA.
Now I think its turning to Ignorance but thats another story.

The point of voting is to do your civic duty..win or lose. Also, there are always dozens of local and state issues that the voters have to decide on. Waving a flag is good, but punching a ballot is better by a mile!

Well it's true your vote will likely not influence anything, which is unfortunate and exactly why we need to get rid of the electoral college to give people like you to vote... again.
Still, you should exercise your right whether it will make a difference or not. It is your right and that did not come without a cost.

Wasn't Reagan a Californian? Didn't you elect yourself a Republican governor?
Bit early to be giving up already isn't it?
