If I give you half a dollar, and you give half of what you have to someone else... how much are you giving them?
"Half of" something is usually computed by dividing by two. So, "half of half of" something would be something divided by two, and that divided by two again. x / 2 / 2 = x / 4, which is one-quarter of the original.

half of the half will always be one fourth of the number.
Say for instance the half of number x is x/2. thus the half of x/2 would be x/2 multiply by 1/2 and the answer would be x/4.
Therefore the half of the half would always be a quarter of the number as I said

You're asking this question in the Math category, so the obvious answer is 1/4.
You say it depends on how you look at it. Well, here's a question for you. If, in the "way" you look at it, half of a half equals a half, then what does ALL of a half equal? Does your answer make any sense to you?
Is half of a whole pie equal to a whole pie? No. So why would half of a half equal a half?
Except for zero or nothing, half of ANYTHING must be less than all of it.

Half of a half is a quarter
1/2 X 1/2 = 1/4
But lets say you were giving half of something but you didn't know it was 1/2 then to you it's a whole or 1. So if you were to give a half of that half away then it would be a half. (;-D)

How can it depend on how you look at it?
I can not twist my mind enough to see when half of a half could possibly still be a half.

I'm no math wiz but it seems clear to me that half of a half is one fourth of the whole. However, if the half is now considered the whole, then half of that half is half, as you say!

One half of a half will always be one fourth regarldess of how you look at it. (1/2)X(1/2) = (1/4). Numbers never change.
