If you're looking for cities with good job markets, check out Dallas and San Antonio. Housing is pretty reasonable in San Antonio as well, and it's a cool city. If you make it to San Antonio, American Funds (largest mutual fund company in America) has a major service center there. It's a great company to work for too. If you're looking for a lot to do, you can check out Austin as well. It's got a great music scene. Not sure about housing or job market though, but there's a ton to do as University of Texas is there.

First off, forget every Texan stereotype you've heard, they're all wrong and we get sick and tired of being told that we are all hicks and cowboys and what not.
Ok anyways, well Austin has a great music scene and is a place for the young, so being 23 you would fit in nicely. The down side is that housing in Austin is expensive, although compared to California it shouldn't be bad. You'll find that housing in San Antonio, Dallas, or Houston is ridiculously cheap compared to what you are used to in Cali, so you should adjust pretty well here. I don't know anything about the job market for finance majors, sorry, but I can't imagine that you would have a difficult time finding a good job in any of the four major cities of Texas, although I think your best options would be San Antonio or Dallas.
Texas is great and there are millions of things to do for fun, from great nightlife to rock climbing to horseback riding to great theaters. You name it, Texas has it. So welcome to Texas!

Definietely DFW. (I dont think there is a Dallas anymore. All the cities surrounding it and Fort Worth have morphed into each other and created this one giant mega city.)
I've just moved here recently myself and love it!
Actually, all the major cities (Austin, Houston, San Antonio) here are great and are close enough its easy to take day trips back and forth between them. Though, I love DFW because it has EVERYTHING you could ever want. Parks, Lakes, brilliant shopping, all the concerts/plays/shows you want, great night life (in both major cities) and so much more!
Im a year older than you and havent had a dull weekend since moving here. There is ALWAYS something going on, something to do.
And the city is filled with transplants. My whole building is people that used to live in Cali. The job market is pretty great too. I was able to slip right in and get a position that will lead me to my dream job in the not too distant future.
It took me almost of year of visiting different cities around the country every weekend before deciding on DFW but Im so happy with my decision.

DO NOT move to Austin, too high housing costs, but the night life and music is okay. Go with Houston. I live in Houston and it's great. I recommend The Woodlands or Kingwood areas of Houston-- very upper class. Waco is also a great city to live in. Baylor students are everywhere so there is a lot to do there. You MUST try Bush's Chicken in Waco!!
