Neosporine and air...my husband did that when he was 12...had that stupid thing covered with a real tat...if it gets red, hot, or has red lines around it, go to the dr, immediately...good luck...and remember there are dumber things you can do...it doesn't mean you should!

You do realize that the only reason that hardened criminals in prison even dare to tattoo themselves is BECAUSE THEY GET FREE MEDICAL CARE WHEN THEIR TATTOOS GET INFECTED?
Let me tell you what you did, genius. You took a non-sterile instrument and pushed whatever germs may have been on it, along with whatever germs may have been in the ink, down farther into your skin than any antibiotic ointment can reach.
You'll be very lucky if you don't get blood poisoning. Look out for red streaks coming from the infection site.

Put Neosporin on it and cover it flat and smooth with Saran Wrap. If it has already scabbed you need to soften the scab with a wet towel first. You should have done this immediately and left it on for a couple days. Scabbing distorts the image.

Not a good idea.. Giving yourself a tattoo can be dangerous, not to mention that you don't have the same skills as a professional. I guess all you can do now is keep an oinment on it, such as neosporin.

Yes it can. I would keep it clean with Bacatricin until it heals. Giving yourself tattoos is never a good idea. Pax- C

How to stop it from getting infected? That's easy. Stop doing it!
Really now, do you honestly want that tattoo for the rest of your life?
