I'm a little over 10 weeks pregnant. I sleep on the couch. The only reason is that I find it more comfortable than a bed (my father is the same way). I sleep fine on the couch.

Now that I'm pregnant, is it bad to sleep on the couch? I find it so easy to sleep on my left side on the couch & its comfortable.

Even today there are pregnant women sleeping on woven mats on dirt floors....and they are fine.

Sleep wherever you want-and whenever you can!

No it's not bad I don't know how many times i slept on the couch when I was pregnant but it was a lot ..sometimes it was way more comfortable then my bed..so don't be surprised if you sleep on the couch again for the next few months..

When you're pregnant, you're supposed to sleep on your side anyway so the couch is perfect! Sleeping on your side is a blood flow issue. . . the weight of the baby can cut off a main vein if you sleep on your back.
I used to prefer sleeping on the couch when I was pregnant because it gave me more support in later months when the belly got huge.
Hope that helps!

If your comfortable this way and like to sleep like that, then go for it. Warning though, you will probably get really uncomfortable when heavily pregnant and on the couch. I used to be a couch potato too, but when I was heavily pregnant, my back would ache so much I switched to the bed and hey presto! back ache solved!

Ask yourself this. Before mattresses were invented, where did pregnant women sleep? Seeing as people have been having babies successfully for thousands of years (at the very least), then it stands to reason that any kind of comfortable resting place is probably OK.

I spent most of my nights on the couch through my pregnancy. It was so much more comfortable and toward the end I had no choice...my bed is up so high I couldn't climb up into it anymore...lol

Nope you are fine however you are comfy! Sleeping on your left side allows more circulation for the baby though. It isnt mandatory of course! But you'll hear later in your pregnancy "lay on your left side" if you are having early contractions or if you arent feeling the baby move like it should. (again, this is later in pregnancy). I think all that matters now is that you are getting good rest so your body can help your baby grow!

It is not bad. In fact later in pregnancy many women resort to the couch because it is more comfortable than laying on your back or the fear of rolling onto your back.

nah i dont think so. we were pretty poor and the bed i slept on was dented in so my legs and head were up and my bottom was done. i slept so awesome. i love the couch too. right after school i would go and just pass out on the couch. as long as its not painful for you or the baby you are good.

I think that is totally fine. Whatever makes you comfortable. I would make sure though to try and stay more on your left side. I believe if I remember right that is the side to lay to give the baby proper oxygen. Good luck and CONGRATS!

why to you have to worry about things that don't matter. You like to sleep on the couch then sleep there. What is the all deal about it?
