Imagine the letter "s" to be squares.

Now the trick is to arrange the numbers 1-8 so that no consecutive numbers touch, either next to each other or corners. Oh and its not a homework assisgnment. Pay no attention to the "-" I just needed a place holder so that the letter s would be arranged to fit the problem.

Try the middle two squares being 1 and 8 and go from there!
