Please stay away from the feeders, especially from the block feeder ones, they do more harm then good, they only will pollute your tank nothing more

Just do your regular waterchange before you leave and feed them as normal and they will be absolutely fine

Hope that helps
Good luck

Betta's have a special defense mechanism when it comes to nourishment. They can stay without food for a very long time. In the wild it is a matter of survival since food isn't always around. Although the ones kept in our bowls and manually bred might not have this ability fully developed. 5 days, if your fish is healthy, shouldn't be a problem for a betta. But as for myself, I still wouldn't risk it. I'd either buy a 7 day automatic block feeder or have somone come give it food at least once during those 5 days.

Maybe Maybe not I would put some food in before you leave and at least a live plant they will snack on the plant if they are hungry they are omivres.. Or and in addition you can get a 2 0r 3 day time released feeder pellets and put in that will get them by 5 days no problem.. It is said you only have to feed adult bettas every other day.. so that would really only be one missed meal although I would never suggest not feeding any animal, The plant may be a nice treat..

First of all, the people who say, "Would you go 5-days without eating..." are dumb. You are not cold blooded and you are not a fish. Fish can go quite a while without food. Is it necessary to not feed a fish for a few days? No, of course not. I feed my two bettas several times a day.

I have left for four days, not fed them, and they're fine! Happy and healthy. Don't waste your money on a vacation feeder. Don't waste your money on a pet-sitter. I would say if you're going on vacation for more than a week and a half, then yes, pet-sitter, good friend, or automatic feeder... however, a good friend is the cheapest of the three!

They say fish can go with out food for a week or so. But i guess would you like to go 5 days with out eating. Don't you have a friend that could stop in every day or at least 2 times while your gone. Have fun on your vacation. Good Luck with your fish And these people that say people like me are dump because we ask if you would want to go 5 days with out eating are not to smart them self. Just because we want to make sure the fish STAY Healthy. While we are gone. The person you would get to watch them wouldn't just be feeding them, They would be making sure the fish is OK. Like something didn't happen to the tank I know my betta knows when i come up to the tank to feed him. or if you have a filter to make sure thats still working or a heater..All that kind of stuff. It dint always have to do with feeding them.

Yes as long as they are healthy. Just make sure you do water changes and feed them right before you leave. The feeder blocks (which I'm sure someone will mention) are made mostly of plaster and tend to dirty up the water that can lead to fin rot and swim bladder disorder. They should be fine.

Edit** Betta's do not eat plants by the way. They eat mostly meaty foods full of protein.

Yes, they will be fine if they are healthy, most of the times, bettas can live without food for a week

yeah they will be be sure of the other things....

-water quality-
-the amount of water-
- waste-

usually this can be solved if you move the betta into a larger tank for that will allow more water for the pollution. i would feed the bettas a lot prior to leaving.

the other solution is to get one of those specialized foods for vacations. they are made so that small amouts of food is released at a time for consumption. they are available anywhere.

Would you be okay without food for five days? Either take them to a fish sitter, have someone feed them at your home, or get a couple of those feeder cubes, that are designed to provide nourishment in your absence.

Make sure you do a good tank cleaning right before you go and when you get back. They will be fine. They can go up to 2 weeks (in extreme cases) with no food. They might be a little mad at you and feeling left out, but they'll get over it! You could make it up to them with a souvenir from your trip, a t-shirt or snow globe or something! LOL
