I have many friends of all colors but I am very tired of black people segregating themselves by insisting on being called something different. I remember when ***** was a term of respect. Then they decided they were black. Then they were African Americans even though 99.99% had never been to Africa. Then it was "people of color". We're all people of color; it's just that our color is not all the same. Then we owed them $$$$$ because their ancestors had been slaves. In our area, we had an annual Miss Black Marshall County and a Miss Marshall County which was open to everyone. We could not have a Miss White Marshall County. It's ALWAYS something for some of them. If Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would go back in their hole in the ground and SHUT UP, it would solve a lot of problems for all of us. It's not the color of the person that matters. As MLK said, it's the content of their character.

Well first of all NO ONE is actually BLACK or WHITE. (well maybe a few very pale Caucasians-no offense). I don't think it's bad to call people black or white, it's what our society has become used to. BUT the use of the N word...now that's a different story. When you hear that word amongst African Americans, it's usually pronounced *****. Not ******. If i called a fellow African American a ******-I'm pretty sure they'd be offended and as confrontational as if it was a Caucasian. It's a way of slang, when we say it amongst ourselves and we mean no harm. As for calling Caucasian people "cracker" I only hear that on TV as a stereotypical joke. Hoes and other profane words is something that will always be a problem. But please do not think for a minute that we take advantage of our race.

First off black people do not call themselves ****** in songs they call them selves ***** there's a difference even if you don't believe it. I really dint care actually because back in the day if you looked up ****** in the dictionary the definition was a piece of wood or an ignorant person. Which i understand being called during the slavery times because of the white people not allowing black slaves to learn to read or do anything to better themselves. Now i don't know where your from where it is considered bad to call someone black and white. Except for the fact that lots of black people in the US don't have BLACK skin its usually like brown but whatever.

I agree to a point. I think nobody should use words that society has deemed offensive because then you're intentionally hurting somebody's feelings. This includes all swearing, though, and most people can't give that up, so I guess they just try to abolish the worst of them.
I think it's horrible that black people (which isn't offensive, even though we're all shades of brown) can use the n-word without everyone else shutting their mouths for them. Nobody should be using that word today. I know 100 years ago it wasn't offensive, it just meant "black person" so that was okay back then, but the meaning's changed now...

im black i dont get offened when somebody other than a black person calls me black because thats wat i am...i dont say african american because im not african.there are different types of black people. african,jamican,nigerian,....but i just say im black. some people do get offened maybe because they may feel like ur tryna fit them with some kind of stero type. white people are not the only ones considered as hoes..ever race may be just depends on how u present ur self. the n word really shouldnt be used because it is degrading. but some people see it as a word "turned into something that isn't now negative" i really dont kno wat to say about the n word situations. but if u do have a black friend u should ask why does____? it helps to see things from another person's perspective. just be mindfull how u come across all kinds of people and things should be okay.
I think if you just kno the persons name call them by there name. we look different anyway (unless ur a twin maybe) so it shouldnt matter ur color. only ur character, personality, etc.
hope this helps a little

I am in a college class, we refer to each other as black or white. No one takes offense. They do not call us cracker, and we do not say the N word. Some black people don't want to be called African-American, because they say they never lived in Africa.

ok i just think the n word holds alot of history in it and that i am not black i should not say the world. i don;t ask why i just don't say it. my mom forbid that word in here home.
i ask people who come around my son to not use the n word i do not want my child to think its ok to say this
yes have i come across some people who are mean and call me whitie name yes but i try not to judge all by those few people .
and i dated a black guy who told me he hated it when other black people said the n word to him . he said i am no mans n word.
so even some black people do not like it used
when it comes to saying black i find people really dont care so just be careful how you use a word
a word can be a mighty sword that hurts

I call black people "blacks" because that's what they SAID they want to be called.
First, back in the 50's and early 60's it was "*****".
Then in the mid to late 60's, they said "no, now we want to be called Afro-Americans."
Fine. So everyone called them Afro-Americans.
Then, a few years later they changed it again, and said "No, NOW we want to be called Blacks!" It was the time of marches and protests and "Black Power" movements.
So fine, once again, we all call them what THEY THEMSELVES ask to be called. Blacks.
Then YET AGAIN, they changed it, several years ago, and said "NO! Now we want to be called African Americans!"
So fine, tiredly yet accomodatingly, the rest of us began calling them African Americans.
Strangely, this backfired in some sections of the black community, who refused to accept their fellow African American's new label, and insisted on continuing to be called BLACK. Period.
So now, people really are either confused, don't care anymore, or are just tired of it all.
White people DIDN'T pick these names for them, THEY did, and they insisted that the rest of us call them by whatever labels THEY chose, and so we have. Over, and over, and over again.
We really don't MIND calling blacks by whatever name THEY tell us they prefer, but for god's sake PICK ONE already and stick with it!

NAACP, ACLU, CNN, MTV, etc, basically liberal television and liberal groups. I'm happy to see that you have opened your eyes and realized the hypocrisy of political correctness.
