You never hear anything positive and most the people doing the bashing wouldn't dream of making a difference and running for office themselves. The news media included. Maybe because it's easier to be judgemental and not be creative.

For the last 60 years, the Democrats have been telling us that the government should be taking care of us, since they know more than us and are better suited to make decisions.

So lets say you are 60, or 6, and your whole life all you hear is that the government will take care of you....and all of a sudden, the sea rises, or lightning strikes or a tornado hits, who do you think you should blame (especially if you are unprepared).....

..throw in the media....

It's part of the spice of a democratic life in a democratic and free society.
Bashing and such other critical messages could send some positive signals to help check and put politicians themselves somehow on their guard. On the other hand, just letting off steam by those people maybe coming from opposing sides.

Since at lease the days of Vietnam it has been the national past time not baseball or any other sport. In sports talent & practice at least counts for something not so in arguing politics.

Now most don't make the effort to vote & even less make effort to be informed. I don't how many think out the consiquences of their views.

Thank you.

Ethics, or lack of them. The anonymity of the web allows all those pent-up playground regrets from being bullied to come to the surface.

Then they don't censor themselves because no one speaks up when they do name-call, cyberbully, act seditious, etc.

Correction. Some do. I do. You do. Some others do.

Not just for the other party (what kind of ethics is that?), but for all people.

I spoke up when people bashed President Clinton (I'm a democrat).

My ethics aren't so weak that I won't speak up now when people try to bash President Bush.

Because no matter whose running it, it could always be better when the other guy gets in there.?
Probably because we all know how inefficient, slow and screwed up our government is.
In reality, its not the government system that's screwed up, its all the idiots running the government. The system if managed as designed would serve us all, but when special interests get involved, the greed of some gets the better of them and they make stupid decisions

Most of this supposition is probably based on two things. This forum and the media. Both represent about 1% of the U.S. population. So what? Who cares?
No thinking, erudite person credits the news casts anymore anyway. Most are too busy with their own lives and making the country what it is to bother with these little gnats buzzing around.

You would have to be creative to find something positive about our current government.
I don't run for office because I am not a millionaire and therefore would not stand a chance.
Welcome to the Machine.

That's what people in a democracy do. People who don't like criticizing their government can choose to live in Saudi Arabia. There, they don't get much to say about the regime.

We bash the government because it's irresponsible, incompetent, inefficient, and unproductive. They are always trying to take more for you, and they never have any solid results to show for it.

Who said that the only way to make a difference is to run for office?
Expressing displeasure at the governments policies IS making a difference. We're a democracy.
