Well...it's that time again...time for me to treat myself and build a new computer.

For my next custom build , I figured I'd see what everyone on here could say about it , and , possibly improve it.

Xclio Case - Black - Good Air Flow - * 109.00

Extra Fans for rear grill - * 8.99

Intel ATX Motherboard - 3 Pci E 16 - * 199.00

Intel Core 2 Extreme 3.0 Ghz * 1,400.00

Kingston 4GB DDR2 800 RAM * 360.00

Sony Dvd Burner/Player * 80.00

GeForce 8800 Ultra 768 MB * 700.00

Seagate 750 MB Sata 3.0 GB HD - * 260.00

Xcilco 850 Watt PSU * 250.00

Well , I think this would be good for me, the gamer , and , for some occasional 3-D modeling , and a little bit of photoshop work.

I'd love to have 2 of the 8800's , but , I doubt I could fit them comfortably in my case , heh.

Well , thanks for anyones ideas/input.

Just to the first answer , the Core 2 duo/extreme line is infact 64 bit capable :D .

Also , good ideas to everyone..time to tweak my parts list a tad...

Oh , and on the RAID setup , why didn't I think of that?! Heh..guess my mind is going , lol.

Well , everyone , thanks for the input , and looking forward to any more :) .

To The last question.

Yeah , a hefty price , but , I've been saving up for a few years. Also with the occasional selling of a 3-D model , and getting some hits , that helped too.

Also , heres the link to the Motherboard , but , I've seen ones with 4 PCI express 16 slots...matter of fact , Pixar has 20 or so workstatios with 4 Nvidia Quadros in each.

That motherboard can't run SLI, which I am just guessing from the size of your budget you just might be interested in at some point. You need an nVidia chipset to run SLI, go with the Striker Extreme, its a better board anyway, its only drawback is its price, but I doubt that is much of a concern to you. If you know how to overclock at all, just get the Q6600 for $300, and put that extra $1100 into something else. As someone mentioned, go for the RAID configuration. If you are worried about the two 8800s not fitting into the case, just buy a bigger one, Thermaltake Armor with the 25cm side fan would be a good choice for your setup, or look at the Koolance liquid cooled cases, will enable you to do some extreme overclocking.

Im so jealous of your budget. The processor is probably one of the best ones you can buy right now, the video card is pretty much top of the line as far as gaming goes, plenty of RAM, just check and make sure you arent overloading a socket (only if you have 2 x 2048 and not 4 x 1024. Some mobo slots can only support 1024 MB sticks.) The hard drive is more than enough, PSU is ample and enough to pwor anything you will need, just check to see that it has 2+ PCI E power connectors. I looked at the case and I think you would be able to fit both 8800 cards. It looks like you will have enough ports on the case and the mobo should allow you to SLI them with enough room because you have 3 x16 slots.

Overall, I am very jealous of this rig and I think you really cant go wrong with it for any computer needs.

Because you're a gamer I would recommend you put that second graphics card in there (just for the heck of it heh).

Also, if you want faster seek times on your harddrive, which is all important to the hardcore fragger, look into getting a RAID HDD configuration. Two harddrives with the same data on it that split the load when it comes to seeking files. As fast as the rest of your specs are your hard drive will be your limiting factor.

No point in 4 GB of ram unless you are getting a 64 bit processor. Most 32 bit processors (like intel core 2 extreme) can only hold 3 GB, especially with Vista. Go with 64 bit, to ensure you can always upgrade your ram. 32 Bit = ~0 - 3 GB (sometimes 4, better check) and 64 bit = 4 - 128 GB I believe.

I assume you're overclocking if you're getting the extreme version. If not, don't pay the huge costs for the extreme, just not worth it.

Also, what model motherboard is this with 3 PCI-E slots? I've never heard of one before.

Other than that, it looks really nice. You know what you can afford, but can you really afford that? It's quite expensive.

i wouldnt waste that much on the core2 ... if it was me i would overclock an amd6000 and go with sli 8800gt coz itl beat the ultra for less money .. and a rather large psu .. i'd probably raid a couple of 10000rpm raptors also and put the operating system on the raid since ur a big spender and add the seagate for storage ..

Sound like a kick tail system. The only thing I suggest changing is the hard drive. A Western Digital Caviar is one of the best hard drives you can get.

Since you're going all out, why not get a Blu-Ray Burner (or a HD-DVD Burner) whichever you prefer.
