Yes, I think you're mentally ill. But, just in case it's a physical problem (like thyroid or hormones) you need to see a new M.D. If she doesn't find anything wrong, ask for a referral to a new psychiatrist. Regular doctors cannot keep up with all the new medicines and treatments available for mental health. A psychiatrist is a specialist in that, and she'll be much better. Now if a drug doesn't work, that's okay. You go see the dr. and ask her to change your drugs. She will. Because there are 20 pills out there and different drugs work on different people. The very best way to recover from depression is to see a psychdoc, get meds, and see a therapist, also.

You're really too young to be this blah and self-hating. I really want to see you perk up, dress up, put on makeup and be the life of the party. But you're going to need help. Find a dr or two to work with you. Believe me, you can feel better. I know, because I could have written 3/4 of your post myself.

One more thing: There's a website with oodles of info, including referral services to drs in your area, it's called National Alliance for Mental Illness, NAMI.org. I think you'd fit right in on the posting boards. There's a whole section for younger people, and another for people with depression. I'm there almost every day for a little while--debv.

I know what you're going through--make it stop by getting some help now.

I used to have a lot of the same feelings you described. I think that it might be a good idea for you to see a doctor again. You might have social anxiety disorder or depression. Don't let the names scare you. Most people go through some sort of mental issue in their life. If you get it treated (it will take a lot of time) you will feel AMAZING again. It really is possible if you commit yourself to feeling better. Not wanting to get help is actually a symptom of the problem. If you had a debilitating physical disease wouldn't you go to the doctor right away to treat it? It is the same thing with depression. It will not just go away, just like diabetes won't just disappear. You have to commit to treating it. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it.

Maybe you just need to find the right people or group. If you feel you're different from others, then find people who are like you. There maybe few of them out there, but you'll find them eventually. Seek other artists or intellectuals, etc. Knowledge is power. Read up on a lot of topics so you can use the information to plan and set goals. Expose yourself to different things and people (legal of course) so you can understand how things are and how vast your knowledge can be about life.

Sounds like a form of depression.

Remember, anti-depressants only treat symptoms, they won't cure anything.

I have depression and I'm going to try anti-depressants, and I'm going to start cognative therapy, that's an idea for you.

I think being Artistic/Creative is common in depressed people. Just look at how many singers/artists committed suicide.
