Sorry he is the DA. Does it matter? Maybe playing a Lawyer makes him more qualified. And I wasn't asking about Hillary or Obama so quit talking about them. I don't know how people turn this question into a bashing of Hillary and Obama. I wasn't asking about them, besides, I agree that being a senator making laws doesn't qualify you to be the President.

one more thing. What did he ever do in the senate that actually made a difference?

He doesn't. He thinks being the former Senator of Tennessee qualifies him to be President. Kind of like being a Senator of NY or Illinois.

He doesn't play a cop, he is a District Attorney. Do you know that he has been a US Senator from the state of Tennessee? If being a Senator doesn't qualify a person to be the President, someone should tell Hillary.

I am a Democrat, but your question reeks of not knowing the man.

He has been a senator for YEARS. I am talking about as far back as Nixon. The only thing he has been doing longer has been acting and breathing. So I think he has a bit on all of the other Republican candidates. Not to mention that like Reagan, he knows how to work it on camera. That is not something one is taught in political science courses at the university. He is the only real chance the Republicans have against the Democrats - if he runs (he hasn't officially announced that he is).

His resume is rather impressive as well. He has been personally asked by presidents to work with nominees to posts within the cabinet (not to mention a Supreme Court Justice).

And I know you corrected yourself - but where in the hell did you think you could attack a guys experience on anything when you don't even know the correct part he plays on a tv show?

This is not one of those cases where ignorance is truly bliss.

because

1. He has had a very full political career including 2 terms as a US Senator

2. He is a moderate conservative who has wide appeal

3. He has recognition as an actor in "Die Hard II", "Hunt for the Red October" and others

4 He doesn't play a cop, he plays a politician, A NY DA..

I am heartened. If dems don't know the difference between a cop, an assistant DA, and a DA it must mean they are just a voter and not an actual politician.

Of course, i could be disheartened because they might think Hillary actually has their best interest at heart. Believe me, Hillary is only interested in Hillary.

It is not always what you do as a career that makes you a good candidate or not. Remember the only requirements to be elected president are natural born citizen and to be age thirty five or older. I don't understand why everybody wants to vote for career politicians anyway most of congress is corrupt and Bush is not a great leader (by the way I don't think he is stupid or the devil either). I think we need to look at other things then just he's an actor, she was a first lady, well he is a governor or he is a black man (I know people who are voting for and against Obama just because he is black this should not be a reason to vote for or against someone). We must look past all of that and listen to their vision of the United States of America and vote for the candidate that matches best your vision.

What make you think you need to be qualified to be a candidate or even elected president. Few if any of the candidates are qualified to be president. We will probably end up with another incompetent.

He was a Senator for longer than Obama! What make Obama think he's qualified?

2007-08-08 23:13:46 · answer #7 · answered by Anonymous · 4 2

Probably the same reason Reagan, Jesse Ventura, Sonny Bono, and Arnold thought they were qualified to run for office (and won)...

Because, as a lobbyist, he's spent more time on Capitol Hill than many of the congressional staffers and has more time on "K" Street than a D.C. transit driver. And he didn't play a cop. He played a district attorney.

Those years in the senate count for nothing?
