Can someone help me. I have two cats and a 12 month old daughter and we have ants really bad. I was wondering if there is a cheap non poisonous way to keep them out of my house.

There are those little ant trap things, around $4, that you put on the ground and the ants walk in them and take the poison back to their nests and it kills the source. They've worked pretty good when I had ants. We just put the little traps behind the entertainment center where the cat couldn't get to it and it worked fine. I don't know if a cat or dog could get the poison out of those things anyway because they're made to only fit ants inside.

Just keep them out of reach for your cats and daughter.

If the ants are indoors, you can run them out with a BOUNCE fabric softener sheet. just fut it in the edge of your vents and in cabinets. Or, sprinkle ground cayenne pepper at there sight of entrance or around the base boards and foundation of your house. I know this works of the little ants, and the bounce sheets work for the big black ants. I have cured both problems this way.

not sure of a 'cheap' way...other than going to dollar store to get ant traps..
where do you live, what kind of ants? if fire/red or even large black ants..you really should seek help to get rid of for your child.

I know u may be worried about the poison...and your daughter breathing it in, etc.

I'd be too, b/c my son is allergic to lots of thngs.

if she isn't allergic to ants and the ants are just small black ones.. go ahead and just place the tiny traps about home in ea corner....

if fire or red or large black ants...ask a profesional and seek pediatric advice for child.

Find out the exact location and area from were there coming in at. Once you've done that block it off with some ant repellent and they'll never come in.

Terro, put on a small piece of cardboard, hidden close to wear the ants are seen, can be found at Walmart etc. only a small amount is needed, and can be hidden in a corner so your baby and cats wont bother it.

To kill the ant colony you are able to desire to kill the Queen. She is laying like 8000 eggs an afternoon. So spraying to kill the worker ant would not help. you are able to desire to kill the Queen to kill the colony. Get the terro ant bait. it is going to entice the ant to consume the terro drops and placed across it to the queen to consume and poisoning her in the processs with something of the colony. while the ant are ingesting the terro do no longer kill those ants as they are donning the poison to the colony. yet you should kill the ants that are no longer in line donning the terro. this would take 2 to 3 days do away with the ants.

My father tells me cream of wheat.

It supposedly is ingested by the ants, and when digested, it fill absorbs the liquids in their stomaches like a sponge... whether or not this is true, I don't know...

Torro is good, you can place it inside of cabnets or where ever you see them. If you know where theey are outside, you can put boiling water on them. Also you can spread some diatomatious earth around the foundation of your home. Its in the organic section of the insecticide area.

My father-in-law (old, old) would boil water and pour it on the ant hill.

We use terminix, and it's not really that cheap, but all of their stuff is non-toxic to humans & pets. They spray our yards, our hedges, even my hibiscuses (they had snails eating them up). We've been very happy with their service.
