Why do the proPalestinian people say the terrorism aimed against Israelis like suicide bombers and Kassam missles is a direct result of a so called "occupation"? Just the other day,I found out there was terrorism against Israeli citizens long before 1967 war in which the Israelis occupied the West Bank, and even before Israeli came into existence as a nation in 1948. So that being the case, how can terrorism be a direct result of the "occupation"?

Here are a few of the terror attacks against Israel before the 1967 occupation of the West Bank. Interestingly enough, the people who always say the "hopelessness of the occupation" is the cause of terrorism never seem to have an answer for these acts of terror.
Jan 11,1952- 7 armed feyadeen attacked and killed a teenage girl in her home in Beit Yisrael
Jun 17,1953-A youngster was killed ansd 3 other's injured in shooting attacks on the residential areas of South Jerusalem.
June 11,1953- Terrorists attacked an elderly couple in their home in Kfar Hess and shot them both to death.
March 17,1954- Terrorists ambused a bus traveling from Eilat to Tel Aviv, and opened fire at short range. In the initial ambush, the gunmen killed the driver and injured most of the passengers. The gunmen then entered the bus,and shot each passenger one by one. Eleven passengers were murdered. Survivors recounted how the terrorist spat on the bodies and absued them.

For the people justifying terror against Israel because they supposedly "stole" the Palestinians land. I would like to point out there never was a Palestinian Arab country.Jews lived in this land for thousands of years. Ever heard of the bible? For Americans,if you think it's OK for Palestinians to murder Jews would it be OK for me part Indian to blow up you and your family because you stole my land? Here are more acts of terror that occured before the "occupation".
April 11,1956- Terrorists opened fire on a school in the farming region of Shafir,4 children were killed and 5 injured.
April 27,1957- Two hikers were shot and killed at close range near Masada.
April26,1960- Terrorists killed a resident of Ashklon south of the city.
Jun 1,1965- PLO attempted to bomb the National Water Carrier, this was the first attack by PLO Fatah group.

If the Jews and Arabs really did live "peacefuly" together until the zionists took over, like some claim why was there still terror against Jews even before Israeli declared it's independence? Here are just a few of the terror acts against Jews before Israel became a nation in 1948.
In 1920 and 1921-Arab rioters attacked and killed dozens of Jews in Rehovot,Petah Tivka, and other Jewish areas the death toll was 50 dead and 140 wounded.
In August of 1929, 140 Jews were killed in Arab riots throughout Palestine. The hardest hit area was Hebron where 67 Jewish men, women, and children were slaughtered in the most barbaric, cruel ways.
During the Arab riots of 1936-1939, 500 Jews were killed in Arab terrorist acts.
On Feb,1,1948- A car bomb exploded on Ben Yehuda street outside the building housing the Palestine Post,50 people were killed and 100 wounded.

It's just an excuse for Mohammedans to wallow in violence.
There is no Israeli "occupation" in Gaza now . . . Israel unilaterally pulled out all its citizens and troops last year, and look at the place. It's a raging firestorm of violence BETWEEN the Palestinians themselves! It's just part and parcel of the Mohammedan culture.
If you want to read an eye-opening account of how this situation developed, get a copy of Joan Peters "From Time Immemorial". It's available on Amazon.com
She started her project as a staunch pro-Arabist, but as she accumulated the documentation and interviewed the principals in this conflict, her opinions turned 180 degrees.
She's dug deeper and ferreted out more detailed and documented information than anyone else.
Read this, and you'll see the Arab propogandists in an entirely new light . . .

I agree with the others that say the reason people say the occupation is the main reason for the violence is just an excuse. I think the main reason for the terrorism is probably a combination of hatred and revenge and also because the Arabs have never really excepted Israel's right to exist. I don't know why, it's not like the Jewish people have no claim to that land, it's their ancestral homeland too,it's where their civilization was founded. I do find it very disturbing how the Arabs seem to always revert to violence to solve their conflicts. They are the most violent people in the world today just look at how their blowing each other up by the dozens sometimes hundreds everyday in Iraq. Just recently, Palestinians killed over 100 Palestinians in one week in Gaza. If they hate each other that much, and have no qualms about killing their own people, it's no wonder they have no problem killing Israelis whom they consider their greatest enemies [Americans are a close second].

Arabs began attacking Jews even before the establishment of the State of Israel. Documented riots targeting Palestinian Jews occurred in 1920, 1921, 1929, and 1936 onward. There were also smaller attacks too numerous to mention.
Darren's answer is mostly incoherent, but his statement that "First Palestinians gained independence from western powers then Israel was created inside Palestine..." is objectively incorrect. There was never an independent nation called Palestine. What Darren presumably refers to is the Palestine Mandate, in which the League of Nations granted authority to Britain to administer the area comprising present day Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. The area was therefore *not* independent. The Mandate also indicated that Britain was to promote "a national home for the Jewish people." Britain lopped off a portion of the mandate to create Transjordan in 1921 (present day Jordan), and partition of the remainder was approved by the UN in 1947.
People should be aware that when many Arabs, and all extremists, talk of "ending the occupation" they are using double-speak. While Westerners understand this phrase to mean return of the territories Israel won in 1967, most Arabs consider *all* of Israel to be "occupied Palestine," and when Arabs (particularly extremists, but also moderates) say "ending the occupation," other Arabs understand that they mean the end of Israel.

Its funny because when they were looking at somewhere for the Jews to go after WW2 two options came up the North west of Australia or Nebraska.
How do you think the people that lived there for years would have accepted being shoved of their land and pushed into the parts they didn't want.
I know how the people of North West Australia would have reacted I am curious how the Nebraskans would have if you are one give me an example how you would react.
Yes I have read the bible especially the Moses part re read it and look for the word Palestine and see who occupied who.
Also I am curious how you feel about the IRA terrorism against Britain do you know anyone that found justification for their cause because there is no difference between them and the PLO.
I am the last support the murder of innocent civilians but there is always 2 sides to a story.

There was mass killing and attacks against Jews between 1948 and 1967, when no Jews lived in Judea, Samaria, or Gaza.
Jews living in these areas has just given the Arabs and their backers in the West a nice excuse.
It's an excuse in a long history of excuses used to justify hate and murder of Jews.

There were no terrorist attacks against Israelis before 1948 because Israel did not exist before then.
It came into being after a sustained program of terrorism against the British administration of Palestine and against the indigenous population of Christian and Muslim arabs by jewish settlers and illegal jewish immigrants from Europe.
To stop the bloodshed the UN decided to partition Palestine against the wishes of the native people and the State of Israel came into being.
This decision has never being accepted by the Palestinians many of whom had to leave the country and become refugees during the vicious attacks by the jews on their villages.
The State of Israel is,at present, in breach of Resolution 242 of the UN which requires them to withdraw from all the occupied territories which they siezed during the 1967 war

occupation or moving into Lebanon again not sure what that one is about. as to other one has to do with Israel being in Palestine. First Palestinians gained independance from western powers then Israel was created inside Palestine or one part of it. the Palestinians fought against it. more wars followed and Israel gained territory some of which it gave back. the West bank has been mentioned as being pulled out from numerous times.some of the missiles aimed at Israel were from outside it in the possession of Hamas a group said to be outside Israel. all very confusing.the rocketts were said to have been old ones Hamas still had. also confusing is two different groups said not to be near eachother are placed with another called FA''TAH. which itself is a very old one. anyway a civil war is going on between one of these groups and another or is said to be.

It's a scapegoat that people are stupid enough to buy in to.
If Israel gave up her statehood and surrendered all of her land to the Palestinians, the hate and violence would not end.
I know there are Palestinians who truly want peace and just want to get along, but most of them, like Iranian President Ahmadinejad (spelling-who cares?) want to run ALL of the Jews into the sea.

HELLO?! Isreal didn't 'come into exsistence'. It was formed due to the efforts of the U.S. During WWII, some guys in Washington realized that our growing dependence on oil put national security at risk. We needed a buddy in the Middle East. Now, as much as I think Isreal is a wonderful country, they are a constant reminder to surrounding nations that the U.S. is fiddling with the balance of power in the Middle East. Add to this a little religious friction, and it's easy to see why Palestinian nationals don't feel that Isrealis have a right to act the way they do.
