80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

absolutely there is no special meaning for life. this question arises in one's mind (1) because we have thinking power and (2) the way human civilisation took. otherwise it is as simple as any other living beings in this world. we have a capacity to organise ourselves so that human life is organised and not without jungle law application. what is expected of each human being is, co-operation in understanding the necessity to live in organised culture. simple example is that for millions of years, nothing great had happened to search a new meaning for life!

No one is quite certain about the meaning of life but people do have their conclusions...But I believe that the meaning of life is live to just live out...experience pain..love sorrow..anger...You experience something that every one has but just in a complete diffrent way..and tht is life...You live out life experiencing eveything..from every emotion to every single memory is the meaning of life..
haha sorta stupid isnt it..the meaning of life is to live out life..sorta weird.

The meaning of life is connected with purpose. Purpose answers questions such as,"Why was I put here?" and "what am I meant to do now?" Real purpose requires a Creator/God. Living for a real purpose gives our lives real meaning.
When people say to make your own meaning, they are not referring to real meaning, they are referring to feelings (or the illusion) of purpose and meaning. It is easy to mistake feeling good about yourself, i.e. self esteem, as evidence of self worth.
To get good feelings of meaning, people typically try to do something praiseworthy, e.g. donate food to the poor. That gives them good feelings of self esteem. The mind then connects those good feelings with purpose, i.e. they begin to think that helping the poor is what they were meant to do (purpose in life).
But it seems logical to me that if God exists, then He must have put our great need for real meaning and purpose into our human nature to point us to seek Him. So I reason that seeking God is our purpose.

I'm not quite sure what the meaning of life is, but I am pretty confident that it is not in order to enjoy ourselves.

meaning of life is not a general question.
everyone has his own means of living his life and meanings for that life. find your individual ones...as we are individuals (or see ourselves as such) until.....
that's all you need to know for this life you are living.
next question?
