The physical attributes should be second. Personality and being a hard worker should come first. As long as he can hold down a job, pay his bills, etc., I consider that financially stable. I didn't care whether or not my husband lived in a mobile home. As long as the bills got paid, we didn't need super fancy things. We are easy to please people.

Selflessness!! Thinking about his future wife and how his decisions affect, hurt or help her is the mark of a man who can commit to a woman and have a lasting relationship. I have been with rich men before and I couldn't get a penny out of them but I have been with poor men too and they would do anything to give me the world and their last dime - even if a dime was all they had to give. I am not materialistic but I do realize that you need to provide - both partners - to avoid causing unnecessary stress in the relationship because of trivial things like not having enough money. Any man who thinks of his wife's needs before (I'll take simultaneous too:) he thinks of his own is definitely marriage material!

If I'm going to marry someone, I want to have many things I can share with them. When I was younger, I tended to go for more attractive men. Now, I've realize that it's most important that we have similar interests, laugh together and that he's a good, honest, loving person.

He has to have a plan. College and career? Military? Peace Corps? Whatever, if the guy has vision and can see himself in 5 years, 10 years. That's a good contributing factor. Shows he knows what he wants in life and knows what he needs to do to get there.
