It's not just the type of plug - you also need a step down transformer. Also check to see if the items have a switch to allow it to change from 240 to 110, in which case you just have to do the plug. Sometimes it is easier and safer to buy new items.

Electrical fixtures you say? Light fixtures perhaps? To wire something using residential power in the US (120/240) just attach two phases and a ground. Also you will want to check with the local electrical inspector because if it isn't approved and the house burns down you may not get any insurance.

If they are incandescent bulbs and not fluorescents it is easy. Just connect their two wires and ground to the two wires and ground already in the electrical box. Then put in 120V light bulbs and you are set.
If they are fluorescents then unless they are incredibly valuable your best approach is to toss them out. You would need to replace their ballasts or buy a step up transformer for them and either way is pricey. Junk them and get new ones is the most sensible answer.
