So American citizens bought into a Democratic Congress- why haven't they accomplished a thing? I am not so illiterate about politics to believe that Bush has that much power? What the heck are they doing? IF Bush has that much power to hold a whole country at a stand still, sign me up for President!

Consistently saying they have achieved nothing does not change the facts.
1. Raised minimum wage - as favored by 80% of Americans
2. Expanded access to health care for children - again in line with the wishes of a massive majority of Americans but ignored by Republicans. Bush wants to veto this against the will of America - but enought Republicans will support this to overcome a veto.
3. The most important ethics reforms in decades - again opposed by Republicans who clearly do not get why they were bundled out of power in 2006
4. The recommendations of the 9/11 independent commission were passed into law. Securing America was a job the last congress decided to leave to this one.
5. Made education more affordable for middle America.
6.Laws that will help the US develop alternative energy sources and become less reliant on oil bought from terrorist supporters.
7. A new set of fiscal responsibility guidelines to prevent continued years of unaffordable deficits .

They did try to force the president to make plans to prevent the war lasting forever and to lay down a timeline for bringing our troops home. But when this irresponsible President made it clear he would rather leave our troops in Iraq unfunded than admit that Iraqi security should be passed over to the Iraqi government- the Dems relented to ensure our troops were properly supported.

Now while we are at it - please tell me what the Republican congress achieved in 2006.
