Is the word "asshole" considered profanity? If so, what are some just as insulting alternatives?

Yes, it is considered to be profanity - by the majority of Americans anyway.

Just as insulting to some may be:

-"a" hole
-bastard (usually considered profanity though)
-unimaginable jerk
- a jack off or jerk off (I know it seems strange, having a
double-meaning, but I've heard it used)
-loser

Tough question.. it's very hard to evoke the same meaning/emotion from words that don't have a societal connotation that 'curse' words or profanity do.

Yes, it is considered profanity. Why not be mature instead of name calling.

If this is a follow-up to your last question, forget it. The city can bar you from posting all signs on your house whatsoever. It falls under their zoning rights.

I think it sounds rude, and I don't like it at all, but I don't exactly know if it is a bad word or not. Even so, I would suggest not using it.
