It is the world's most exensive spice. This yellow spice comes from the stamen of a flower. It is sold by the gram like some drugs, but it is used to flavor food. You can't be arrested for being in possession of it, but you had better have a lot of money if you plan to purchase much of it.

You can buy saffron in the grocery store on the spice aisle....it's expensive.

Saffron is a flavoring. Generally used in middle eastern cooking. IT is very tasty yet very expensive. Pound for pound more expensive than gold.
