yes. absolutely.

I want to refer you to My So-Called Life in terms of summarizing the answer to your question (It's the Tao of Girlhood into Womanhood):

Angela Chase: "My dad and I had a great relationship ... until my boobs got in the way."

Plain.and.simple. It takes time for dad's to get over that initial "OMG SHE'S GROWING UP" phase. Then they get over it and you're daddy's little girl again.

Yes. I think dads have a hard time realizing that their little girls are getting older and trying to gain independence. Girls tend to be very self-conscious of their emerging womanhood, and men get uncomfortable being so close to a beautiful young woman whom they can't think sexually about. I would think to some degree, this would be true with the majority of father/daughter relationships.

i am a teen right now and it is a little bit but i'm not allowed to date until after i graduate college anyways but just watching people kiss or whatever on tv was awkward but we are both big hockey fans and he is really interested in my soccer stuff so it isn't too bad. well at least not all the time. i just hate when my mom makes him go shopping with us.

I'm not a girl but I am a dad, and yes it did, atleast I think so. I think the problem was that I was never a teenage girl so I didn't know how to relate to them.

Actually, my father was a big big part (yes big twice) of my life until I was around 6. As I got older our relationship got closer. I don't go to him about my lady problems, he'll just say jokenly, "I don't want to hear that s&*t." But I can tell him everything else.

Absolutely. When I was younger my dad and I were so close, but now I hardly see him anymore, let alone talk to home. He's changed alot. He's definately gotten very cold and distant. But that's just my relationship with him...

No not really. He understood and always asked me if I were on my period if I needed to be lifting( cause I had cramps bad) always told him No and I could help him do some odd jobs as in helping him lift things. I was the only child and he was considerate when I was in that time of the month.
