about my 93 mercury cougar?

my 93 cougar just recently started making a noise and when i start it up it just accelerate with out me pushing on the gas... Do any one no what this problem might be?

Check all your vacuum hoses and then the idle control switch , Remove it and see if the underside is dirty , It may be worn out, hope this helps.
