will he live through the night? Does the air conditioning kill them?

Nope, a/c will not kill it. However, you can probably find it by looking in your windows. They have a wonderful instinct about them that seems to lead them straight to windows!

They can live several days in the house. They do tend to be attracted to windows and light though.
To get rid of a nest I just learnt a cool trick. Apparently wasps are extreemly territorial. If you hang a brown paper bag (puffed up to look like a nest) near the nest the wasps will vacate the nest and not come back because someone has invaded their space. There is a $20 version of this sold in Rona but a bag works just as well.
Who knew!

If you just want to get rid of the one wasp... Get out a cheap can of aerisol hairspray and spray it good.. .The alcohol in the spray will "freeze" it's wings and it won't be able to fly... I used this method many times... Good luck
