Why does this statement only apply to the American people.

If this is what our government is telling us, shouldn't they be held to the same standards?

Why scream executive privilege if there is nothing to hide?

I mean what's good for the goose.....well you know.

GREAT POINT!

I am doing nothing wrong, but I STILL deserve privacy and it is a constitutional right!

Maybe we should exert citizen priveledge!

They say secrecy is needed because they have nothing to hide, just like they say that the terrorist hate us for our freedom and that's why we now have warrant-less wiretap, or that with less taxes for the rich we get more revenue. The world is frying but global warming is a myth. Gas prices are control by supply and demand of OPEC but still not controlled. Well you know up is down, night is day, sick is healthy, slavery is freedom, credit worth more than gold etc etc.

You know how many years Americans usually have to wait for a Presidents documents to be opened for the public after their death. Well he also has those sealed for much longer than normal. And only at his two daughters discretion, and agreement. What does that tell you.

It seems to me that most of these responses are guided towards Bush and the Republican Party . . . what is that all about? Clinton lied under oath to hide his dirty little secret . . . Pelosi is in bed with big businesses in San Francisco, and the Saudis, but shuns them both when called on it . . . in my opinion - I do not what to know all that they know or all that they do to keep me in my disillusioned world. the president and executive branch has earned certain privileges that they need not explain. they were elected into power, and the only way to get them out is by voting opposite of what it is that you do not like . . . if you want it this way for one party or one president - then make it that way for ALL . . . you said it, "...what's good for the goose..."

In the case of the Bush administration abuse of power is not just a possibility, it is their modus operandi. What's to keep them from intercepting phone calls coming out of the Democratic party's office? What's to keep them from then intercepting phone calls made by people who they know have donated to Democratic candidates? What's to keep them from collecting information on campaign strategy, or from digging up dirt on the Democratic candidates? Certainly not common decency! They have none of that. Fear of the repercussions of breaking the law is the only thing to contain their corruption and deceit.

They've shown no inclination to use their power to make this country or the world a better place. They use their power only to gain more power.

Good point. Very good point.

However, didn't you know, the government isn't held to the same standards as everyone else? Real fair, huh?

Very good point. Whatever happened to the 4th Amendment? Check points, warrantless searches, CCTV cameras at every intersection and freeway. Oh yeah, I feel secure (like a caged rat). How about they take down those cameras, or I'll do it myself. This country isn't supposed to mirror from the country we won our independence from now is it? Privacy and individual liberties is all I want, now can I have them, or do I have to show you my papers?

Great point! Our representatives (including our president) work for us and so should be held to similar standards. They should not be able to keep unlimited secrets, or destroy all their records. While there's a place for national security, it should never be abused.
