She proposed something very similar when Bill was Pres. The Liberals give a lot of talk to 'national healthcare', but you have to remember that they will NOT be using it. Just like many countries that have socialist healthcare there are two tiers, the workers like us, and the elite private healthcare for the politicians, which we will pay for any way like we do now. We give free healthcare to many in the US any one can go to a county hospital and get treated, here in Texas we spend $Billions$ on treating illegals for free. If you want to see what socialized government healthcare will be like go visit a free clinic or a VA, or USPHS hospital. Hillary wants you to do just that - work hard and give her your money so that she can tell you what is right for you.

Additonal thought to Stratz ...
- The biggest segment of the 45 million is young working people who choose not to have healthcare. Many under 30 do not choose basic healthcare for many reasons.
- And you may not realize it but most people work till they are past 65. Only a small percentage get to retire bfeore then.

She has not advocated anything of the sort.
She is merely advocating a system that ensures everyone has health insurance. There has been no talk whatsoever, of either making private health care illegal (given that this would be counterproductive and quite possible unconstitutional why would she?) or of centralizing health care into a government controlled health system.
Our current healthcare system is not better than others. It is embarrassing. It recently ranked 37th in a global WHO study (just behind Dominica) and results in the worst health standards in the developed world (child mortality, life expectancy, healthy life expectancy). And all this for a cost of twice as much as the rest of the developed world.
When the right are ready to stop misrepresenting proposals for universal healthcare as nationalizing the health care industry, and to stop hurling abuse at other countries' systems that produce significantly better results than ours, I suppose they will be welcomed into the debate as to how to fix our broken system. As long as they keep pretending nothing is wrong the debate will go on without them.

I'm with you. Even if it isn't 'welfare,' the level of care would soon be no better. Why don't people 'get' this?

Rudy has a much better plan anyway. He plans to give everyone tax credits to cover the cost of maintaining their own private insurance. Much better than Hillary's plans to run us all through the nightmare that is Medi-Cal.

Every other industrialized country does but us. Taking care of our less fortunate is the right thing to do, and it will help American businesses because they will no longer have to spend so much on health care. If you were really concerned about your tax dollars, you would be really irate at the spending in Iraq.

National heath care is not welfare you imbecile!!!

45 million American do not have any heath care, but so you think that stops them from going to the hospital?? NOT.....

Now those people with out heath care do not pay and the people with heath care pay for theirs and the extra it takes to pay for the uninsured....

This is the Republican way of keeping their workers until they are almost in the grave!!!!!!

For anybody interested in retiring early and they don't have retiree heath care the only answer is national heath care, I hope to hell it happens before I want to retire....

You Middle class Cons really need to stop and think......who is looking out for me!!!!!! It surely NOT Bush and his Republican administration!!!!!!!!!

Big business norm now is to not insure their retirees.....Medicare does not start until you are 65.....so guess what, you are working until you 65 or your paying 2 grand a month in insurance.

I would like to retire at 55- 57 years old, right now my company still offers insurance to it's retirees, but bet in the near future it will be gone!! Try paying 2 grand a month for heath insurance for 10 years!!!!! NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!
