On a particular site, i see RAM for $40, then right under the item is another brand (same size) but is $109. Is it cause of the brand name?
Are names like Western Digital and Seagate good brands?

Western Digital and Seagate are both great, unfortunately they make hard drives not RAM. The more expensive RAM is probably high performance RAM, that is why it costs so much more. If you want a better answer, IM or email me with links to the sticks in questions and I will let you know what the differences are and which is good.

Depends on the MHz ......400 mhz runs about $38.00 and 800 mhz runs up to about $89.00 on Tiger Direct. Kingston is a good brand and has been around for a while.

I prefer Western Digital over Seagate....especially in hard drives. WD offers a 3 year warranty.

40 - 75 is a good price. I bought a Kingston (the only kind I'll use) and I got it at Fry's (www.outpost.com) for 60.

Western and Seagate are Hard Drive manufaturers. Kingston, Patriot, and Corsair are really good memory brands.

The price does depend on brand, but also by the memory's specifications.

you will could seem into countless factors before you improve your RAM...for instance...did they men who outfitted your laptop placed a sixty 4 Bit OS on your laptop...My wager is they did no longer because of the fact they only put in 3GB of RAM interior the 1st place. and not using a 64bit OS you will purely be waiting to apply 4GB of RAM. different than for that, it may be extra useful to get 6GB RAM...and pull the 1GB Out of the blend. Having it in there'll close off the twin Channel function of the motherboard. via having 8GB of RAM ( you are able to rewrite the a million stick you saved to verify the Latency settings of the different 3 and run twin channel....in reality tricking the motherboard into questioning that each and all and sundry 4 sticks of ram often is the right same sort.
