properly, a betta could be waiting to stay in a bowl or a vase. although, the final consensus among smart fish keepers is that it somewhat is a cruel practice, that finally ends up in a shorter existence span for the fish and accepted poor well being. it somewhat is real that Bettas do no longer require a super quantity of water, although, making an investment in a 2.5 - 5 Gallon tank with a heater and a few sort of filtration, won't purely supply the little guy an prolonged happier existence, he additionally will have brighter colorings and extra useful finnage too!

First off, bettas are tropical fish that need a heater, so a fishbowl really isn't a good idea for keeping them. Invest in a bigger tank of at least 2.5 gallons, though bigger is better, and make sure it at least has a light to keep the water temperature at 72-78 degrees. Also you will need to make sure the tank is cycled before you add the fish, meaning you can not have any nitrites or ammonia, and very little nitrates. Nitrite/Nitrate and Ammonia tests are very cheap and can be found at your local fish store. Get a male, they are prettier, just don't mix him with any females (unless you have at least three) or another male. If you get a larger tank (10 gallons +) than you can mix your betta with cherry barbs, kuli loaches, corydoras catfish, small tetras, platies, and mollies, but these are brackish water fish, so you would need to add a bit of salt (the mollies). You also need to condition the water, and make partial water changes to keep it clean. Good luck!

Go to the store and look at the bettas. Find the one that you just can't live without. It might be a male. It might be a female. You'll know which one to get when you see it! The betta tanks are sold at all pet stores, Walmart, Kmart and lots of other places. If you decide to go with a bowl make sure it's at least 1 gallon and has a lid. Bettas WILL jump out. Aquarium gravel is sold in all pet stores that sell fish and also walmart. You can also use marbles as long as they are not painted.

I have had like 10 betas and have bonded with only one I had it for 3 years. Males are the kind to get they are colorful and smart. You can look at pet stores or at a Pets-Mart. They don't swim a lot so you don't have to get a five gallon tank and small one will do. You could even get a pickle jar. pet stores should have a jar and gravel. You would probably want something that the fish can swim through like a little castle or a plant with root (just stick it in the water it will live in the water). You will want to get food that is made for betas and get some water conditioner.

Males are bigger and more colorful. It isn't hard. Go to your local pet store or walmart. Everything you need is already there for you. Feed your fish once a day. Do not put more than one beta in a tank. They will kill each other and that is just sickening. Change the water once a week.

well first you can get a bowl at your local pet store
or really you can use any kind of container just as long it is high enough so that it dosent jump out
and never filll your fish bowl or container to the brim if water especially if it spherical fill the bowl half way so there is alot of water surface for your fish can breath
and i wouldnt recommend using gravel in a bowl since the left over food or its poop will sink into the gravel and create ammonia and will make it difficult when changeing water in a bowl AND its better to dechlorinate your water then buying bottled water

cool! and yeah, most likely, u want a male.......um.....basically, u can get everything u need at a petsmart or petco....there gonna b about 3.99...the bowl only needs to b a 1/2, but if u want, 1 gallon...i got a new tank specifically for my betta, cuz the 5 gallon tank i have is too big....so i got a half gallon for about 9.99-15.99, and it came with gravel and a plant...and if u dont already no this, u feed him 6-8 pellets, 3 times a week....trust me, dont follow the instructions on the food container...cuz that killed my fish....so yeah thats just about everything u need....

Petsmart has them and you can get the bowl there

Also don't get another beta fish and put it in the bowl with the one you get. ..they'll fight.

I should know..i've had like 2 or 3 beta fish
If you want a male fish get a male fish
