At the end the man is running down the train tracks in the dark and tries to throw the piece of paper away, and a huge monster is coming down the tracks to get him. I think the movie is in black and white.

Could it be an old movie called "IT"(not the Stephen King movie)?This movie had a statue that came to life(a golem)because of a piece of paper with a word on it was placed in it's mouth.I don't remember a chase down a train tracks,but it sounds familiar to me.
