The decision that you are about to take is has to be taken with a lot but a LOT of calm, because in one moment you can feel that way and well to regret or to re-do a surgery can not be the great things to do your body. But, in my opinion the best answer that you can have is by asking directly to a specialist a Doctor, that can give you all the good and the bad things that you will or not have to deal after.
Things to consider:
your age
your general health
how much it will cost
which is the time to recover
what is the worst that can happen
As woman I understand that the period can be sometimes not the greatest, and for that I hope you find a way to deal with it (if surgery or not) good luck.

Depending on your age, you could have your tubes tied, but if you're under 30, not many doctors will do it. I get the feeling that you're much younger, so I suggest you just get on birth control and ask your doctor about skipping the placebo pills so you'll skip your period.
*Now that I know your age, I'm going to suggest that you not do anything so drastic. What, exactly is it about your period that you don't think you can take? If you have severe cramps then you should see a doctor. If you don't already use tampons I would try them. Once they're in, you barely know you're having your period. As for cramps and bloating, you can take OTC medicines like Midol and Pamprin for teens. If you avoid salt and caffeine and get plenty of exercise during this time, your period will be much more bearable.

Periods are such a nuisance. You can talk to your doctor there are forms of birth control that will stop your period for months at a time, but the surgical procedure, hysterectomy, wouldn't be done by most doctors unless there is truly a medical reason.
Birth control pills can also help with cramps if that is your main complaint or if your periods are very heavy.

Yes, there are things you can do. But, I wouldn't recommend anything permanent because you may change your mind later.
First off, you can take some new birth control pills like seasonique. Basically, you just keep taking birth control pills and not take the placebo pills.
Permanent solutions are hysterectomy (complete surgical removal of uterus) and endometrial ablation (a laser is used to zap the lining of your uterus).
Talk to your doctor about non-permanent methods.

at 14 yrs old i seriously doubt any doctors with any kind of sthocs will be willing to do anything permanent... look into birth control pills or the depo provera shot(but it does cause weight gain, so if you have a problem w/ that, I'd just deal w/ the periods)

Well, you can be put on the shot Depo Provera. A lot of states won't allow you to have permenant surgery until after havin' a baby or two.

Well, I know some girls who get a shot that prevents them from having their period. I don't know what it's called but you should ask your doctor about it. You could get a hysterectomy as well. This takes out of all of your female reproductive organs so you wont have your own children or your period.
Good luck.
Oh and getting your tubes tied doesn't prevent you from getting your period. My mom had it done and she still gets her period..

You could have a hysterectomy. Why are they that bad, though? If it's cramping, they can do a lot to fix that or perhaps you have endometriosis. Good luck!

Getting your tubes tied will stop you from getting pregnant but please do NOT believe it will stop your period because it won't.
