There's a such thing as nature's way. They do not kill each other to be malicious. If an animal seems to be playing with something living or "torturing" it then that is just them training to get better at hunting, just as cats play together. Us as humans are more intelligent and do not need to kill to survive. If someone kills a dog or cat it does have a central nervous system, just like us, and it will feel pain. That is not right.

Because dogs and cats are highly evolved and can feel fear and pain and anticipate. They bond with people and we have long ago made a pact with dogs to keep them as companions and helpers.
Also, you don't eat dogs and cats, they are strictly companion animals and not raised for food.
It makes no sense to even compare pets with livestock.
Now, if you really feel strongly about there being no difference, become a vegetarian, or vegan, that is an honorable choice, but I don't think you really would classify dogs and cats as edible, so why would you want to have them killed?
By the way, go to your local Animal Services and look at those sad, sometimes trusting, sometimes hopeless eyes and tell me again that killing them when they are hoping for someone to take them home again is "No Big Deal".

Because they wouldn't have to be killed at all if idiot people didn't keep breeding their pets. 5 million dogs and cats are dying needlessly in the US each and every year.
Livestock animals are purposely bred to feed us.

i think its because dogs and cats are not an endagered species and they are home pets. Cows and pigs are barn animals that are used for produce only.
Even though they produce meat that can possibly kill us if we eat it 24/7. it keeps most people healthy, like with the use of milk

It's not so much what you kill but why. In some cultures cats and dogs are considered food and if you kill it for food then fine. Personally, and in my culture, dogs and cats are considered close to sacred so I could never kill and eat either. However, me and in my culture, I eat chickens and cows. In some cultures these animals are considered pretty much sacred.
Some people keep chickens and cows as beloved pets but also eat chicken and beef so here is where "why" comes in.
It is one thing to kill an animal for food or if your life is clearly in danger but a whole other story to kill an animal for pure entertainment. A lot of research has come out showing that people who are cruel to animals will also be cruel to people. Many people who hurt other people such as by abuse or murder have a history of hurting animals.

Anyone killing or abusing anything is a BIG DEAL to me. How does it make you feel to just think of being abused and/or killed?. And not everyone eats meat... There are a lot of vegetarians and most definitely more to come..

People feel more connected to dogs and cats, rather than to chickens and cows. We keep them as pets and they respond to us, listen to us, cuddle with us. Sure we keep cows and chickens and pigs also, but our culture isn't used to us killing dogs and cats. When we think of killing cats and dogs, we usually think of violent, painful deaths. When animals are killed for food, they usually are not slaughtered that violently.
