When I see nature programs with images of the herds of antelopes, wildebeast and elephants running across the African plains, too often those shows are interrupted by commercials for charity groups seeking to aid millions of starving African children. North America was once covered with herds of bison and antelope, but those grass lands now produce food which feeds billions of people. The bison did not become extinct, but there that land was turned over to human cultivation, and the size of the herds was greatly reduced. The only way to solve human starvation in Africa is to reduce these herds and begin mass cultivation of the African plains. Liberals need to make a choice. People or animals?

That is an interesting theory.

Unfortunately, similar to the charity group commercials it is very, very oversimplified.

Africa is a continent, not a country.
What works (sort of) for the United States (a federation of what used to be individual countries but is now basically one large country) with large subsidies to farmers and internal and external tariffs and taxes and a lot of politics would not work for Africa.

In fact the system is starting to fall apart in the US as well. Our government pays farmers not to produce to keep prices high. We pay tobacco farmers to raise crops WHILE paying for health care related to tobacco use.

The strong split on the last few elections is showing that the US is geared up for a civil war of some kind.

Oh man, it's so frustrtaing seeing questions like this and even more frustrating to think people actually believe it!
It's not like whole countries in Africa are running rampant with wildlife. There are some protected natural parks and animal reserves as well just wild country like we have here in America and the rest of the world. The starvation problem is the result of droughts, corrupt governments, lack of money, knowledge and will.

I would ask why is it America's responsibility to solve these kinds of problems when we can't even take care of our poor and homeless vets. Politicizing it is only making things worse.
