Easter is was originally to celebrate fertility. Eggs and rabbits both symbolize fertility. So, it just makes since for the rabbit to hand out eggs. Hope this helped! ^_^

It's a Pagan fertility symbol. Rabbits, chicks, and eggs are all symbols of fertility for some ancient Pagan cultures. Some branches of Christianity, espescially the Catholics, absorbed many Pagan celebrations in an effort to win over Pagans, so there is a lot of syncretism in some of the holidays. Jesus' actual date of Ressurection may or may not have been that day, most likely it is unknown.

It comes from the pagan Roman deity Ester , the eggs represent fertility , the bunny represents the innocent(virgin) purity. the two are joined in the spring ritual of Ester , or Easter in the western version.

No, they don't. However they eat chickens. They need to hide the eggs somewhere so no one will know where they went to. Sometimes the rabbits color the eggs in hopes no one will find them.

He carries them in a basket because if he tried to roll them on the ground it would be hard to keep them all in a herd.
