The best you can do is make the motorcycle as inconvenient as possible to steal. Just about any lock and chain on the market can be defeated. A friend of mine had not just one, but two NYC Kryptonite chain locks on his bike. In the morning, he found the bike gone and the chains in 4 pieces. However, the bike was parked at an apartment complex by itself. SO:

1) Park it in a location where it can NOT be seen by passing traffic or casual thieves cruising through your complex, OR-
2) Park it near other motorcycles of comparable value. Thieves go for targets of opportunity... easy to steal, or where they can work on it without being seen. If you make your bike difficult to steal, they'll move to the next bike in line.
3) Don't just immobilize the bike (disk lock), secure it to a hard-point (pillar, steel pipe, concrete anchor) with the toughest chain/lock possible.
4) Get a good alarm, pager variety preferable.

Just remember, you may be worried about losing a key, thieves are not. I've had a motorcycle stolen, and many attempts, and have several friends who have had their bikes stolen. The simple fact of the matter is that if they want your bike badly enough, it's gone.

Lo jack makes a transmitter that is hidden in the motorcycle and is activated once you make the police report. It transmits a signal via satellite to police tracking computers. So thats what the company claims.

Sorry to tell ya but locks only stop honest people if somebody wants it they will take it. My best advice is have it insured well and lojack is aprox 500-1000$. the mor expensive lojack covers if they don't find it you get $7000 plus your insurance. if you got all that covered go park it in harlem and consider yourself ahead and go buy a new bike put the other 6g in the motor and move to nebraska

Everything Number 6 said is true but also use the handlebar lock. Just doing that saved my old POS from being stolen from out in front of my Mum's house.

This may sound stupid but I have done it for years on my HD !! S&W hancuffs work great on the front !! And they come w/ 2 keys. Put 1 on a chain and put around neck !! You should be able to find 'em in your local "cop shop" supplier. Or you can get 'em online (Use search engine !!)

The dog is a good idea.If someone wants it they will get it.I've heard of a few guys who would stick a pipe through the rims and load it in a van or truck.
