Honoured lady,
First let me say that I happen to believe in God and in Lord Christ.
That said, you are completely misunderstanding atheism I think.
Atheists have looked carefully at what we know about reality and what we can posit and believe that there simply is no God. Evidence points in that direction. They have studied the evidence. They do not believe.
Clearly the Bible and the other sacred western scriptures are fallible and human, everyone knows that. They find liberal Christianity unappealing because they (wrongly by the way, the only bone I've ever had to pick with atheists) believe that it is just biblical Christianity watered down and that we still really believe in the Bible underneath -- which is not true. They do not find other religions to have any truth in them either, and they therefore reject the lot.
It is a rational and logical stance to take.
We know that things evolve -- that isn't really open to question, the ID people are sad examples of how much not open to question it is for an educated person... The bacterial flagellum -- yeah...
We know that some sort of energy release (I lean toward the brane theory myself, not the pure big bang) created the universe.
We know that amino acids -- the building blocks of life -- exist free floating in space.
We know how planets form out of stellar dust, we are watching some form now in a not too distant star cluster.
All the believers are left with -- from a logical perspective -- is the god of the gaps, so called -- and the gaps are getting smaller by the year.
To the atheist this is compelling enough, and so they do not believe.
I do believe, but not because I deny plain, provable truth -- like the ID people, and the extremists of every faith community do -- but rather because it feels right, and because I choose to. It is my right. I will also say that I think within 50 years the existence of the human "spirit" will be undeniable -- research now going on at the Planck level is going to pan out to prove it's existence, I think (and that's only my opinion -- which again, I have a right to). I don't expect deity -- whatever you choose to call god (dess) to ever be proven however.
But atheists aren't crybabies reacting to "God's" lack of care for them -- its all about logic and learning. I swear to you.
Kind thoughts,
Reyn

What do I have to say now? Well for one, I'd like you to take one step down the ego ladder and stop accusing me of why I don't believe in God. You may be angry at atheists for not believing in your God or following any set religion, but don't blame it on your theory that atheists are only atheists because they're let down by God, it only makes you look ignorant and narrow minded.
For one second, step back from every bias you have, especially about atheists. I'm not an atheist because I feel anybody, especially your God has let me down. I'm an atheist because other than the bible, which was written by man, there is absolutely no proof or even evidence of any God's existence.
Before you go around pointing fingers and throwing stones, remember that when you throw stones in a glass house, you're bound to break something.

There may or may not be a God or gods. The one thing that is for certain is that no religion has the story correct and it is impossible to know if any part of their versions have anything right.
Their holy books were all written by men (yes men, not God) thousands of years ago, a hundred years or more after the events they are supposed to describe took place. Even if they were accurate when written, much has been lost or changed in translation and over time, quite often by the official
church on purpose to fit its needs.
It's astounding the number of people that have been killed, tortured, etc in the name of "God".

How can a person be let down by something that does not exist?
I have never asked God for anything; I have never looked for God ‘anywhere’; and, in fact, I cannot recall a time (even as a kid) when I believed in God - although perhaps I did when I also believed in Santa, and it makes no sense to stop believing in Santa but continue to believe in God.
I do not believe because there is no evidence. It really is that simple.

(Why is this in the LGBT section?)
"It's not what you say that gets you into heaven, it's the things you do and the loyalty you have to the Lord."
You can't even prove there's a "Lord," much less "heaven." Why should I waste my precious lifetime trying to get to a made-up place?
"The only reason you don't believe in God is because you all expect Him to be there every time you want something."
Wrong. I don't believe in God because he, as defined, doesn't make any sense, and because there's no evidence.
"I think you let Him down more than he lets you down..."
You are entitled to your thoughts, however delusional they may be. How about you give some evidence, SOMETHING, that God is even there to begin with? After his existence is confirmed with evidence, THEN we can start talking about whether he's worth pleasing/worshipping.
"you just don't see it."
Claiming that you have a greater understanding of something, yet without any proof, is a sign of nothing but madness.
"so what do you have to say now?!?!"
Your arrogant assertions are just as weak now as they ever were. Without proof, your arguments are empty, and as long as you have no proof, they always will be.
Have a nice day.

What makes you think God is a Him?
And since when is anyone who believes in God a Christian? This is not true.

Okay, I believe in God, but I have to rant about your question. First of all, your question makes you seem arrogant. Second of all, there are other reasons that people don't believe in God. Third of all, even if you don't agree with a persons beliefs, you have to except them for who they are. And, the other answerers are right, there isn't any proof he exists. And, while I don't really agree with them, they actually make a good point. I leave you with this:
People who don't know their opponent's argument, don't know their own.

You do know that Christian is a term used to describe anyone who believes in God, right?
From there, you have the Christian religions, which it is perfectly feasible to not be a member of. The fact is you're still a Christian.

The only thing I have to say is that you are entitled to your opinion, and that, like it or not, is all it is - an opinion.
You show a complete lack of class by not accepting and respecting that others are equally entitled to theirs.
You display a sad lack of intelligence when you make sweeping generalizations regarding a group of people you obviously know nothing about.
Why not stop fighting to be right and start doing something to make a difference in the world.

Why do you believe in god?
You probably got rude answers because you're trying to shove your freaking religion down our throats. I freaking hate that. I dont believe in god because I don't..It makes no sense whatsoever. How does it even pertain to you? I would rather live my life instead of having a god control me.
