It is the frequent creaking and thumping sounds of second floor when I'm downstars as solitary occupant of the house.
The reverse holds true when I'm upstairs day or night. I've
been called once by my first name from upstairs while busy in downstairs kitchen; it was a womans voice. I've seen things fall from shelf spaces for no apparent reason. I'd like to think that this old wood frame cabin is talking to me. I'm feeling
quite comfortable here.

I like that, too (being able to occasionally move around w/o turning on a single light. I also like knowing that I will come home and know exactly where everything is going to be without even looking.

: )

Best thing for me to be able to feel at home are having the things I love. Such as your favorite picture frame or picture hung up on the wall, a family picture may be, having your room or your couch set up exactly as your old home where you used to be SO comfortable.

Av got this huge leather soft as hell arm chair, it's so big and comfy i often fall asleep on it and on many occasions when my kids come and visit me all 3 of us sit on it pretty comfortably and watch the box, it is a single armchair but huge, had a hell of a job getting it in, even had to remove a double big window but worth every penny.

Ha ha - I do that, I think its great how you can just walk round doing small tasks in the house without having to turn the lights on.....I was actually going to ask a question to see if more people do this or if it was just me.

There's a strange little buzzing noise that starts the moment I open the door and continues for about 90% of the time I'm in the house and awake.

It's my cat, Jet, purring.

having someone there to hold you as you walk through the door. or sitting in your favourite chair with a nice cuppa watching your family play together, knowing you wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the universe. that's what home feels like to me.

Peace and security, the love of those waiting for you(this includes the cat) the ease with which you can get things you need or want. This belongs to me and mine.

Hearing the voices of close ones as soon as I walk in the door.
