I will tell you the values of your coins. I am a coin collector. Walking liberty half dollars were designed by Adolph Weinman and engraved by Charles Barber. They were minted from 1916-1947. The year 1944 had a mintage of 28,206,000. It's value is $5.00. the year 1945 had a mintage of 31,502,000 it's value is also $5.00. I'm sure the value may go up in the future due to the silver content of the coin. I hope this information helps answer your question.

Did you check for mint marks if any. They are located on the reverse side up a little from the letter H in half. The D (Denver) and S (San Francisco) mint marked coins are worth a little more. The coins only have value above their silver content if they are in high grades, other than that they are worth 7 to 8 times face value to a dealer. If most of the detail is in the coins with just a little wear the coins are worth $8.50 if they have the mint marks they are worth more. Here we have coins that actually have more of a historic value than a money one. 1944 was the start of the end of World War II, we finally started to push the Japanese back in the pacific and in June off that year troops landed in Normandy. Germany surrendered in 1945. So you see to many Americans those dates mean something, even though WW II vets are getting scarce, their children are still around. Some being brought up by just their mother.
