I own a 1995 Buick LeSabre. Today I was driving and when I tried to brake, the car wouldn't stop as it normally does. Instead, I had to push the brakes all the way down to get the car to stop. At first I thought my brake fluid must be low, but I checked the fluid level and it is full (I haven't added any since I bought the car three months ago and it's still full. Is this normal?). Does anyone know what the problem is so that I can save myself from being ripped off by a mechanic? Could something be preventing the brake fluid from getting to the brakes? Could the pads be bad? Or could it be something else?

I would recommend taking your vehicle to your local dealership for a free brake inspection. They will give you the measurments of your break pads and also advise if there a more serious problem. Its recommended to have your brakes replaced if its less then 2MM in the front and the rear. Good luck!

You must have some air in the brake line, or you have brake fluid leak. Stuck calipers would do the same thing. Before I suspect the brake booster, I would insect the calipers, and, assuming that there is no leak, if the calipers are ok, I would bleed the system ...
Good luck!

It sound like air in the system but you have to check your brake lining to make sure your brakes lining were supper, also check for some leakages in the pipe lanes, drum brake, master cyclinder etc then bleed the system or you will end of having girlfriend on the way {run into somebody car}.

You need to have it filled all the way to the brim. Try pumping them instead of a steady push. If it doesn't work you made need to have them bled. Ask someone at a parts store if therez a cleaner for brake lines.

Could be a bad master cylinder or you have a wheel cylinder leaking a little and it is letting air into the lines. Need to get this fixed quickly before you are into someones rear bumper.

sounds like gotton air in the lines. might have to bleed the brakes. If the pads were bad, it would have been that way all along

if it is hard to press the break peddle:
it has power breaks, I would check the vacuum booster, it is between the firewall and the break master cylinder, check if it still is getting vacuum, and if it holds a vacuum.

if its easy to press the breaks:
I would check the master cylinder, or for air in the system, look for break fluid leeks anywhere in the system, or
try bleeding the breaks and see if it gets better.

Sounds like the booster system is bad.
Could be just a vacuum leak, could be worse.
