Many believe cazique and bezique (yes, they are real words) are the highest possibly opening plays, but that honor actually belongs to muzjiks!
The current North American record for high scoring turning is held by Michael Cresta. He played Quixotry for 365 points at a club in Massachusetts in 2006.

The world record in competition scrabble was for CAZIQUES, with the Q on a double letter, and filling two triple word scores (9 times). Score 38 X 9 +50 =392. Apparently, the opponent put down FEZ, allowing the scorer to fill across (he was going to score a seven letter word with CAIQUES, but was presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity). Both caziques and caiques are legitimate scrabble words.

I just Googled 'scrabble highest scores' & it's theoretically possible to score about 1800 points with 7 strategically placed letters!
The best I ever managed was adding QUIZ(blank)_ FY to an I already in the top row. 31 points, 2 triple words (i.e. x9), plus 50 points for using all my letters = 239.

check the link ---- OXAZEPAM, BEZIQUES, CAZIQUES, MEZQUITS, and MEZQUITE. However, the Official Scrabble Words, based on Chambers, includes QUIZZIFY for 419 (not 509 since only one Z is available and a blank must be used for the other). Other high-scoring words include WHIZBANG, QUETZALS, and HIGHJACK (each 374); QUIXOTIC (356); and MUSQUASH

I haven't a clue. I once scored a boatload of points on "mulching". I used his m from "jam" and added all the rest. iI landed on triple word and I got the 50 point bonus for using all my tiles. It was a truly triumphant moment. Gotta savor your triumphant moments--there aren't always enought of them.
