ADHD is a myth perpetuated by drug companies who want to peddle their poisons, and educators who don't want to deal with active children.

Human personalities range from hyper-active to very sedate. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being hyper-active. It's all "normal".

I was told just last week that Richard Branson has ADHD by my ADD life coaching skills counsellor. I have seen it confirmed on the net, but I am not sure if he has spoken openly about it. I was searching for some info on it when I came across your question.

What aladdinwa says is rubbish, it's an uninformed bigoted opinion and I find it offensive as aladdinwa has obviously not been affected detrimentally first hand. As someone who has felt on the back foot all my life and been diagnosed with all sorts of depressive or personality disorders (for which yes the GP was prepared to chuck all kinds of rubbish at me for) I completed therapy after therapy and my whole family fell apart because yes we had undignosed and untreated ADHD. There's a genetic link and some of my children have it too. I have had to fight in the UK to get diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and eventually for the sake of keeping my family together we all went privately even though we could not afford it.

If ADHD didn't exist then sufferers would be hyperactive on amphetamine medication, but it has the opposite effect. My daughter developed oppositional definat disorder and then progressed on to conduct disorder when her ADHD was untreated. She attempted suicide and lived a high risk life. She got a diagnosis and a treatment program and she is a calm happy person who is able to think things through and compromise on difficult issues rather than act impulsively and resort to dangerous behaviour to try and recreate the stimulus her brain is naturally lacking because it does not have the right chemical balance.

For aladdinwa to say such a statement is the same as saying that a diabetic should not be prescibed insulin because thier body doesn't really need it and they are just lining the drug industry's pockets. RUBBISH!
