here's what my daily list involves:
dishes in the a.m. -do your dishes as you use them - I am a professional mold grower and fruit fly breeder :)
doing laundry in the a.m. seems faster than waiting for it late at night - do not pile wet things up - they will mold!
I sweep the floor 3-4 times a day (hardwood) dust mites are terrible so vaccuum often
clean out the crumbs from your couch on a regular basis
you do not want ants so wipe down surfaces often
Clean the oven only when stuff smokes when you turn it on!
use vinegar and water for cleaning windows and surface and even laundry
clean out your fridge once a week
check the expiration dates once a week
scour your bathtub once every two weeks or so
clean your toliet once every two weeks or drop in a tablet cleaner once a month
dust once a week or you'll be growing a crop of dust mites.change and washl of you bedding every week or two.
And if you want to let it go a day, do so, it'll all wait for you!!!!
watering plants early in the day helps them use the water when they need it
hang your laundry to dry if possible.
Just make a list of everything that needs to be done and do it one by one. A good storage system will save you soooo much time.
Cat? That's an important part of your list
Good Luck, Take it step by step and if you want to let it go a day, do it! BUT, you'll have twice as much the next day.

Thankfully, I have a few years to brainwash my kid with these--LOL
Make sure you know how to separate your laundry (darksand lights) and remember to always put your detergent in first and let the water run for a minute before putting in your clothes. This will help avoid spots. Use liquid detergent if you can-it won't clump.
Don't throw anything on the floor. Be lazy and only handle things one time! It's easier to throw the towel right in the hamper than it is to have to go back and pick it up later. Same goes with clothes. If you have to, put a basket in the bathroom. Keep a brush in the shower, so you can clean while your taking your shower. The sprays really do work, but they can be smelly-if you don't have a window in your bathroom, use something like Method shower cleaner-it won't kill you!
Always spend five minutes picking up before you go to bed, and five minutes before you leave the house. It will cut down on what you have to do at the end of the week. Wipe up as you go, don't leave dirty dishes in the sink or on the floor (especially if you're in an apartment, unless you like bugs). If you will only wash towels once a week, hang them up, especially if you live in a warm, humid climate-once they mildew, you'll never get the stink out. If you pick up as you go, on the weekend, you'll only need to run the vacuum, sweep the floor (although you should do this every day), and mop. Always clean up spills right away.
Don't throw out your old t-shirts-they make great dust rags, as do cloth diapers. Just make sure there's nothing hard (a button or anything of the like).
Chores will vary depending on your living situation, but spending a few minutes every day means a lot more free time on the weekends. Keep your shower cleaner in the shower and spray it on right after you're finished-if you have a tub that requires scrubbing, keep up with it-it's easier if you do. Dawn is the very best dish detergent-you can use it to wash dishes, AND veggies and fruits, plus it's a great stain remover. Hang wet towels up right away and they won't get musty and mildewy. Keep a basket by the door for shoes, so they're all in the same place. When company comes, you can pick up the basket and put it in the closet.
Whew! Tired yet? LOL

How to keep your clothes clean and wrinkle free (Dry cleaners do this best)
Picking up after yourself after you eat and keeping all food put away. (keeps bugs from moving in)
How to change a fuse (sometimes they go out when you have too many things on)
How to change a lock on a door
Other than those basic things you don't need to know much else. There is a book out called Things My Mom Should of Told Me or something like that and Mrs. Clean books.
I don't know how to wash dishes, mop floors, sweep, vacuum, clean bathrooms etc. My husband hates the awful job I do whenever I try to do any of that and he does it himself.
It is also cheaper to eat out at restaurants than to cook for one person in some cities.

wash a window/mirror
use a vacuum
how to sweep properly
how to mop properly
For my kids I added how to make a bed properly and fold laundry so it all fits well in the closet or drawers.
These things are not only good for you to know for your own sake but for when a friend/ neighbor needs a helping hand sometime.
