You can have your eyebrows plucked, waxed or threaded. It's your choice & it depends on what salons in your area offer.

Plucking takes more time than the other 2 methods.

Waxing should be avoided if you are using Retin-A for acne or any medication that thins your skin. A thin layer of warm wax is applied & then a strip of cloth is pressed against it before pulling it off. The hair sticks to the wax & gets pulled off too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waxing

Threading is another option but isn't that widely available. A thread is twisted & then allowed to unroll which catches the hair to pull it out as it untwists. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threading_%28epilation%29

As for maintenance, lots of women have their brows done at a salon & then pluck stray hairs to keep the shape. If you aren't comfortable plucking your own brows, then you can have them done at a salon every 4-6 weeks, depending on how fast your brows grow back.

I like to have my brows professionally shaped every 3-4 months and pluck them at home in between appointments.

Since you are new to this, it is a very good idea to go to a salon to have them shaped. Let the tech know you're new & ask her to show you how to take care of your brows in between visits.

Go to a salon and get them waxed or threaded. Threading is cheaper and is usually $5 so you can go back and get them threaded every couple weeks when they grow back without spending a fortune. I also recommend you going to a salon with a Indian woman doing the eyebrows, they're the best at it. You don't need to keep going back to the salon because once you get it done the first time, they're already shaped. So you can just use tweezers to pluck out the strays.

have a professional do it at a salon first.then every week or so you can just tweeze strays.its really easy to keep the shape.
tweezing hurts at first but beauty is pain.you will get used to it.
get a good pair of slanted tweezers like revlon or even better tweezerman
get a good magnifying mirror
tweeze near a window with alot of natural light
tweeze after a hot shower
try to grab the hair as close to the base as possible
one hair at a time
pull hard!you dont want to pull the top half of the hair and break in the middle
tweeze in the direction of the hair growth

i guess thats it.its all i do i might have forgotten something.about.com has great how-to...check wikihow for tutorials.ive been tweezing my eyebrows since i was 11 and never went to a salon to get a good shape i really wish i did.ive had lots of horrid eyebrow shapes.

Go to a salon and talk to someone there.
They will be happy to help.
If you still want to, set an appointment, and show up of course.
Most people choose to do that, then touch up with the tweezers, and go back every once in a while to keep the shape.

Plucking eyebrows is just grabbing hairs at the root (where hair meets your head) and pulling (one by one is reccomended) them out, staying with the shape that they've been waxed in.

Go to someone who specializes in eyebrows.

DONT get then over plucked or waxed stay in a natual look, I suggest to get them plucked befor you get them waxed and be sure you like the shape they give them.

just ask them to pluck the little hairs underneath your natual eyebrow line and the ones between each other (your eyes)

Once you have the desired look, then switch over to waxing,

remember that they will grow back wich ever method you use, its only natural, and will become a ritual of your everyday life.

GOOD LUCK

Ask the stylist to help you out. they can usually figure out the best shape that your eyebrows will look with your face shape. I recommend going somewhere cheap, they do just as good of a job. Expect to pay anywhere from $6 to 12 for it to be done if you go somewhere cheap.

Also, at least with me they last about a month to six weeks before i have to go and get them done, but simple plucking and maintenance can extend that time frame.

It won't hurt as much as you think. It may sting just for about a second, but they are doing just a small section, so it won't hurt so much. It won't hurt nearly as much as getting a teeth pulled. It'll be over before you know it. I think you should just be able to pluck them yourself if they start growing more. Unless you start forming a unibrow, it's nothing to worry about. Eyebrow hair doesn't grow that fast, anywho.
