I keep feeding him foods as if he is 4 months. My baby is 10 and 1/2 months old. I think I am being too paranoid. I just worry about him too much. Can I have some advice please on what to do.

Just watch him real well while he eats.

Increase the consistency and lumpiness gradually. My daughter wouldn't take anything other than pureed foods until she was 11 months old, actually, it was about a week before her birthday, that she took solid foods- and I mean solid...as in, stole bacon off my plate, toddled off with it and ate it.

Just give it a try. It's scary at first, and *may* lead to some gagging, but tilting baby forwards and firmly slapping between the shoulder blades will help solve it.
It might help you if you go on a baby/child first aid course too... just to give you a bit of confidence to know what to do should your baby start choking. It is unlikely to happen though :)

Just relax and keep and eye on him while he's eating. At 10 1/2 months he can eat almost anything cut up very small. He may kind of gag on it at first because he's not used to the texture, but he'll be okay with it after a while. I would get some of the little jars of toddler foods that are cut up veggies and fruit at first. They are already precut to the right size for his age. Then you can move on to frozen or low soduim canned veggies and fresh fruit and veggies when you feel more comfortable with his eating. He can also eat crackers, cheerios and soft meats like chicken and fish too when he gets used to chewing and swallowing. And let him feed them to himself. It's an important skill he needs to learn, even if it's a little messy at first. Good luck.

I am the same way with my 9 month old baby. We just care about them so much that the fear of anything happening to them scares us. I started her on solids like three weeks ago. Start out with something like mashed potato and move up every two or three days making the new item a little bit more bulkier or harder. You will be surprised on how smart they are and how they take their time to make sure whatever is in their mouth is ok to swallow

Babies need to be on solids so they learn how to chew. Go to the store and get Gerber Fruit and Veggie puffs. They are little stars that disolve in baby's mouth. They are kind of like Cheerios. Also, dice up and boil up some carrots, and cook some peas and let him pick them up off the tray. I did this with my son from 9 months on. Soft foods are good to start with.

Are you a first time mother? Start off with finger foods before anything else.

his trachea is about the size of your pinky if you give him things smaller than the diameter of it you should be fine- try the gerber toddler stuff it dissolves pretty easily and it might make you more comfortable...if all else fails buy a food processor and put everything in it!
