It depends, but in general - not really. To be a misanthropist is also to hate oneself and those close to you.

It is better for one to understand the reasons that cause these feelings of hate, to understand why people do certain things that make one hurt.

All of us are in this together. We are all prone to error, but we should definitely try to improve as there is much injustice around.

since the use of the word 'misanthropist' by someone who presumably is well-read enough to have seen the word 'misanthrope' at some point in the past irritates me, I suppose, yes, I am.

I don't think so. I tend to like more people then dislike... the ones I meet anyways! Although I don't trust people easily.
