I have 2 convict chiclids its the first time they breed and they layed about 30-40 and about 3-4 days ago they hatched, i made them a shelter with limestone and they have not stopped diggin they moved them a few times already but now they are under the rocks they might be ok but with all the digging it might collaps.

also when should i remove the fry from the parents? i have a breeder net but not sure when to move them.

When placing decorations in tanks with fish that like to dig (like Cichlids), you need to set the decorations on the bottom glass, by setting it on the substrate, they can easily lead to collapses and death. You don't need a breeder net. Convicts protect their fry until the fry can protect themselves.

Also, you will not be able to sell the babies (for much more than 50 cents a fish), because Convicts are so easy to breed. You would be better off just giving the babies to a friend, or donating them to your pet store...

I agree with everything soop said. Eventually the babies will be getting pretty big. You will want to remove them after about 4 weeks. Within days of removing the babies, the parents will often spawn again. Have fun!
